I'm looking to buy a Walkman and I'm able to choose between a WM 2055 or WM EX-36.
They have the same specs such as Mega Bass, Dolby and auto reverse.

Which one I should buy ?

    Thanks for your answers.

Hello Roxas84, too bad you don't live closer I think I have one or both of those collecting dust out in the shop. You'll be fine with either model, I don't think either are considered collectable but both would be fine for daily use. Don't pay a lot, I used to see similar 90's models all of the time, they don't have a lot of differences or outstanding features. This was at a time when CDs were really taking off and you rarely saw people with cassette players any more.

Thx for the answer :) Yeah I live in France so it would be hard for me to pick them up in the US. So ill go for the less expensive one which is the EX-36 for about 30 euros (35$). I don't want to spend a lot for a casual use. I have also seen a non working AF67 for 40 euros but I don't want to repair it.

You could also post something in the wanted section below, there's a ton of members over there with nice players and they might find a nice one for you. I just checked Ebay France and Germany, there's some new old stock but it looks like Germany has some better bargains.

I would go for something that works. In fact of the first two if one could be demonstrated as working that would be the one i would choose.

Sony WM 2055 and WM EX-36 belong to the same generation of cheap, all-plastic walkmans that Sony was making in 1990s. They are not bad per se, just common. Sony made zillions of different external variations of basically the same inner design, I have no idea why did they do it, they watered down the brand.

If they work, then they are ok for daily use, I have a couple from this generation, but not specifically these ones. Replacing the belt is easy once you crack them open — the body is held together with "claws" as Sony calls them, not screws. Sony rated them from 40 Hz to 15000 Hz range, not bad. W&F are not stellar, though. In my limited experience, versions without autoreverse have slightly better W&F.

The AF64 belongs to another lineup. I believe it is a previous generation from the late 1980s.
