I came across a Sanyo boombox for sale, but I couldn't find any information and pictures from internet on the model with surround other than PH-WCD3. I wanted to know whether this is a rare unit and still contemplating whether to buy it.. Anyone have pics to share on any Sanyo boombox models with surround?? Appreciate very much..

I'd buy it, it looks pretty cool and pretty expensive when new. I feel like there was a super-wide Panasonic that was also "surround" but basically the same with tweeters pointed out and two drivers pointed straight ahead.

A very nice technically advanced BBX, still have it, a bit beater tho.
    Go for it. :)
IMO it has one of the best stereo wide sound I've heard in this format.

I've been doing some searching, the "surround" models didn't really pop up around here but it looks like there was at least several of them. Here's some of the ones I found, these look pretty cool too bad I never run into any of them but I might jump on the Sharp.

I was typing when you replied Reli, that one is super cool looking, a newer box that actually looks like there's some quality to it, either that or Walkman Archive's Awesome Photo makes it look nice.

I bet they sound pretty good, the surround option looks like it might have been fun to play with back then, just as long as you had the extra speakers.

Thanks everyone for the information sharing and those great images. The seller finally sent me some pics and the model. Body design not as impressive as those models you shared, haven't decide to buy but he is offering a very affordable price. Model : Sanyo MCD50K
Can't believe totally no images can be found in google except service manual!!!

What you think shall I grab it?

Cool, you found another one, it looks like it's just a little newer and a more basic than the other Sanyo. I have a hard time turning down boomboxes so I'm the wrong person to ask. The few that are listed over here are pretty reasonable in cost and I think I'll keep an eye open for a full system with all of the speakers.

It certainly looks to have a good complement of jacks, something that are sadly missing on many mid range Panasonics. The logo is post 1987, although I suppose the CD drive indicates that as well.

Yup, why not? if you have a wish and space + price is reasonable?
Also rare, that counts as well. :)
I like those late Sanyo models, well made and technically rich.

Nope, I wish I did. It seems that most people threw them out.

Sometimes I get really lucky and things pop up, when I look around my office I've got a few treasures, the Olympus Speaker Set for the SR-11 Stereo Microcassette Recorder is a good example, when I first found out about them while looking through a million ads, I check the bay, and the very first time, there was a pair on there. Of course I've never seen any since, pure luck.......
