I have some BAD news for Nak decks owners: I failed on my mission to get a set of belts for our brother @nakamichi :( Krista from MarrsCommunications was nice to me until the time came to deliver the goodies. I paid on Sept.2, on Sept.22 she emailed: "Yes, your order will ship priority mail tomorrow. USPS tracking # 9405 5036 9930 0036 8727 62" As of today, Oct.16 Tracking Number 9405503699300036872762 is just that, a number. Since Sept.22 I sent five emails to Krista, but received absolutely no response.

with COVID-19 going strong anything is possible... Both Willy Hermann and ESL Labs are getting Nak belts from Marrscommunications, and buy in bulk. So, for a few more years Nak owners are safe.
Krista has not responded to any of my recent emails, if someone succeeds in contacting her please let me know. For now my plans for a Nak with a 'classic' cassette mechanism had been canceled :( More funds to buy more Discmans :)

@Machaneus if parcelapp.com is correct then marrscommunications is a Big Scam! Belts are being made in Japan, then signed by Fred (now Krista) Marrs and shipped from TX, USA. There must be a glitch in parcelapp.com system?

I really can't tell , I'm using it as other tracking sites mostly because I think it's fast , so far haven't noticed anything unusual.
I guess if/when the package finally arrives the papers should mention the country of shipping .

Nevertheless kudos for your efforts mate trying to assist a fellow member !:)

And once I filed a claim with my Credit Card Co. (and got my money back!) - only then Krista mailed me the belts:

This is a totally new way of doing business!!! I am speechless :shock

Now, being an IDIOT I am, I have to call my CC and reverse the cancellation: another half-hour of fun! BUT: what else to do during COVID-19 fun-time???

@nakamichi - do you still need this set? Not a problem if not, I will have an excuse to upgrade my Yamaha KX-330

That's super interesting Machaneus, that would be the most plausible explanation of why the belts are late and it seems to be a common theme across forums. I'll have to look into the Japanese Manufacturers and see if I can find anything.

@nakamichi Got It! Will mail it tomorrow

@Mister X & @Machaneus at least this once Krista must have waited until CC canceled transaction and only then mailed the package (maybe she runs a charity foundation?). USPS small FlatRate box was mailed from TX, not China and had the same label posted above. Strange.......

Final update: finally mailed only today. USPS was so overwhelmed by recent changes that until now I could not even print the shipping label!

I did a little experiment (by not contacting CC right away), and the results are: Krista of MarrsCommunications does NOT run a charity program for Nak owners ;) Only when contacted by my Credit Card Co. only then she mailed me the belts and then fought the charge-back! So, my advise to you - use only Credit Card to buy belts from Krista, you might need extra help to get the belts!

Sometimes I go through my old links to see if they're still around, I've got 100's going back to the late 90's. Here's one I forgot about, maybe because they do old radios but they've got a full rundown of Nakamichi Belts and they ship internationally. Most of these come with an idler tire! They also have a list of idler tires going from .47"-1.46" OD.

    www.wjoe.com

There's good reading on this site as well, I have never used them but they've been on the internet forever, I'm sure there's reviews out there.

This was one tortured ordeal with a kinda Happy Ending: Krista shipped belts only when pressured by my CC company, then USPS delivered package to Japan instead of @nakamichi in Sweden, once I filed the Claim they reconsidered... then @nakamichi ended up in a hospital with COVID-19 and could not pick up the package...!!!... :(

For those of us who know how... lets Pray for @nakamichi full recovery... and wait for his restoration photos :)

    Hi all!
Finally I have replaced with New belts and and with a New idler tire. I had bad luck though the play lamp get broke. The Nak sounds great now and I adjusted the speed to optium. Only thing that bothers me is the whining sound on reverse. The forward is ok. This problem was even befors the belt replacement. Can it be the reel motor?

Sounds like my truck, it's most likely one of the spinning axles. Glady your OK, I was just playing some GHOST yesterday, I really miss touring bands and going to concerts.
