I am looking for someone to service my DD33

It powers up and has the clicking but seems to lack power to play the tape.

if anyone could point me in right direction that would be great.

    Thanks.

    Hi Foxy

I too have a defective D33 that needs sorting with a speed problem (and a DC-2 also which has deteriorated in several areas). Previously, I dealt with those renowned specialists, Dr Walkman and Marian) but both usually have huge waiting lists and the cost of posting is quite high to boot. I’d be grateful for details of your repair service, what the problem was, how successfully sorted, and a reassurance that they handle equipment with kid gloves i.e.returned with no extra scratches or marks.

    Regards

    Hi

What are these guys like regarding fixing Sony cassette Walkmans, and are their prices reasonable and is the equipment handled with care?

    Regards

I went to Vic at Galaxy Repairs.
He’s not cheap but did a good job.

Customer service needs brushing up on as well.

Thanks for the rapid response, Foxy. Without straying into litigious comments, what aspect of customer service needed improvement?

Ha ha good ol' Vic, I have known him for I guess more than 20 years. I get on with him well, he is a very nice guy.

Advance warning for UK Walkman users who wish to send their defective players for repairs in EU-Lands. I sent 2 to Marian for various fixes, having used him successfully without a hitch a few years earlier. They are now holed up in Bratislava by Customs who seem to be following their French buddies attitude to our fish exports. They’re demanding written responses from Marian about the initial purchases. Marian feels that if I supply him with the original Ebay invoices, they’ll levy taxes on them. Ludicrous, as they’re only for fixing and returning to me. They’ve been “in custody” for nearly a week now! Marian and Leonardo might see their businesses drying up if their Customs continue to play hard to get.

As they’re already there, you should have less hassle (hopefully) getting them back than getting them there in the first place. I’ve now asked the British Embassy for help in this fiasco. Who’d’ve thought it?
