    Hey,
I'm looking for some original metal microcassettes. They don't have to be new, but usable.
Any brand will do, as long as they are metal.

Good luck, they don't come up for sale often except for the guy in Russia but I think he's making his own.

Yeah, he is, sadly. Actually, I tried making metals myself. I used Fuji JP Metal 90, which yielded some positive results - I could successfully record on it with my RD-XM1, but it was dropout city all the way, there were cyclic dropouts almost every 2 seconds, so I assume it's something with the formulation. I have a Sony Metal XR, but to be honest I don't wanna sacrifice it for this, it's not a screwed shell.

Interesting, I only have a handfull of full size metal cassettes but was hoping to try it out. I've been looking for the little metals since I have a nice size collection of players but I think I only have one metal micro tape.

Apparently all MiniDV tapes used metal tape. They are cheap enough to destroy a few trying to work out how to slice the tape down to width.

No need for that I think, I just grabbed a barely used TDK MA-60 from approx. 1980. I think it should work fine, given that it's from the same period of time as all these micros.

I was just thinking they were much cheaper. Having checked on Ebay Metal Cassettes aren't as expensive as I thought. Previosly I had only looked at Cassette Comeback's prices.

Mister X, those Aiwa tapes look sweet but that pricing is steep. The Fisher ones I tried to buy, but the seller insists on using eBay Global Shipping program instead of First Class, and I'm not paying 50$ for shipping of 4 microcassettes.

I'm really tempted on the AIWAs, you'll never see those again but they're more like shelf queens.

True, and I wanna have something for use, that's why I can accept used tapes too. But regardless, the TDK MA got delivered to me today, it's from 1979 actually. I put ~15 minutes worth of tape in a microcassette shell and it sounds excellent! (by microcassette standards...)
I can truly recommend using these old TDKs for this purpose.

Hi, I came across your post while doing a bit of research. I'm clearing out my collection and have 3 used TDK MA-MC60 tapes and a few Angrom cassettes (all 1983 or newer) that I haven't checked yet.

I was intending to list them on ebay but noticed your (understandable) comment about GSP costs. If you're interested, get in touch, quite happy to post direct to Poland.
