Wow! if it continues like this, then Audiogon crowd will migrate to S2G :)

But maybe a bit too intimidating, let me knock it down with my own Technics:

Hopefully more S2G-ers will follow, I saw more than a few beautiful turntables here :)

Old school wins! Swapping out my desk system for a little AIWA 22 System, check out how the components are all the same height as the TT.

On a Technics turntable that tracks exactly as the record was cut  although obviously it isn't playing at the moment.

    No cheating here

For Stereo2Go what could be more appropriate than going into my newly installed summerhouse (ordered in August and finally installed in December) and playing a record on my Soundburger?
I am guessing that I picked up this record in a Charity shop mainly due to it having a date 15 Nov 1963 written on the cover making it almost as old as me. and the emphasis of the price of One Guinea (£1.05) on the cover. Feed that through an inflation calculator and you get £22 proving my theory that new today vinyl is about the same price in real terms that it used to be.
    The Hits.JPG
Bizarrely the inner sleeve notes that stereo versions of the same records were 27 shillings and sixpence (£1.37 1/2p in the new fangled decimal currency that was still eight years off back then).

Needless to say the record plays as if it could be just a year or two old. The proven longevity is the main appeal of vinyl to be. Will people be able to play your Spotify playlist in sixty years time?
I think my Soundburger deserves new belts as it struggled to turn the record when I shut the lid. From the position of the switches I guess that should normally be possible.
Open it played fine once up to speed

Looking at the records listed on the dustsleeve I can see another one I now want "Lets Dance to the Big Hits of 1962". I wonder what the chances of getting one is ?
Of course back in 1962 I would have probably preferred the one in the last photo, bottom centre/
    IMG_6643.JPG

Update. I have just ordered a copy of the Lets Dance 1962 album on eBay. The postage was twice the price of the "buy it now" record.

The Flintstones! I just played that in my car on a mix CD, sometimes it's fun to thrown in an old TV theme to surprise my riders. When I was a kid I had those cheap floppy albums but they had really neat audio books on them, I always had science fiction. Another one I burned through was Disney's Fantasia, the part where Mickey made all of the broomsticks, after seeing that portion it was easy to visualize it when the music was playing.

Just to the left of The Flintstones was a Huckleberry Hound LP. Both hadn't been going long with The Flintstones only starting in 1960. Yabba Dabba Doo :lollegs:

Doing some research https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pye_Records Pye had a label Pye International that licenced records from American labels so that probably explains these being here. Elsewhere on the sheet was an LP for the Gerry Anderson TV series "Supercar" which I have never seen, presumably because it was filmed in Black & White so unlike Thunderbirds never gets repeated.

The biggest surprise in the Wikipedia article was learning that Golden Guinea range were supposed to be budget discs, although there was lots of emphasis on the sleeve about the price. I wonder what full price LPs were back then? Fifteen years later in the late 1970s budget LPs from "has been" groups like The Beatles were commonly sold in Supermarkets for £1. In real terms that was 1/3rd of the price of these. Of course if you wanted the latest release from Wings or John Lennon it would have cost you a lot more and only been available in a proper record store or department.
