The practice run for Toy story I remember here was some impressive for the time CGI in an Intel film I saw at an Imax. Obviously it looked better in HD 3D
As a young schoolboy in '82, all the talk about the use of computer graphics in TRON got me excited for the movie... not realizing I had seen the work of Triple-I years before: Yeah, I know... but it was the best version I could find.
I had to scroll back to figure out which post, yea Ultraman is pretty cool and he talks, there's a sensor built into the front. The batteries are pretty expensive, they're like those 1/2 size AAAs, I haven't bought any to try him out. He came from a local thrift store, I used to hit them up a lot back when I did a lot of sales calls.
Well, there's nothing wrong with thrift-store stuff... because that's how I got my first compact stereo: A Craig AM/FM/Recording 8-track job. Had to buy a separate pre-amp to use my Pioneer PL-300 turntable with it, but it was still worth having... especially when I dubbed some of my CDs to a Radio Shack blank *-track, for playback on my workplace stereo.
I'm a veteran of the thrifts nickelindimer. When I was a young skateboarder in the late 70's, we'd try to find 60's Bermuda Shorts and 50's overcoats, we were actually pretty successful but then the rest of the world followed our fashion trends. I'm surprised that short men's swimwear never came back in the US.
These times are really hard. I had to become a freelance worker. The main problem was amount of taxes, that's why I opened an offshore bank account for saving money. This company helped me to cope with it and notify me if something is changing
Someone posted on YOUTUBE the other week how they loved the 80's and listening to "Kyrie" by Mr.Mister on their Walkman.... I don't usually post replies but in this instance I had to say.... Going to work in a bit and just about to listen to my "new Mr.Mister" tape on my Walkman....yes an EX521..not really an 80's model though
A recurring theme I see on music videos from the 1980s on Youtube is "I'm building a time machine to go back to the 1980s. Does anyone want to go with me ?". Needless to say a lot of the replies are yes. Last year I didn't even get to see any 1980s bands. With the way things are going I am wondering if "Lets Rock" will be on this year, or if I will want to go if it is. With the latest announcement about Glastonbury being postponed to 2022, Paul McCartney will be headlining it in his 80s if he still decides to do it.
Maybe if this thread were called "What are you listening to (in these difficult times)" more people would open it Then again, maybe the point to keep it semi-private. I do have a walkman beside my Macbook Pro to listen to cassettes. I also listen to stuff on YouTube, like this, cleaned-up 1980-s with a self-driving car:
We do have the "Enjoy the Music" thread for both good and difficult times http://www.stereo2go.com/forums/thr...2-original-from-old-stereo2go-site.353/page-4
