I replaced a CG for my WM-F5, I found there the same metal disc with brocken black plastic gear like inside a DD.
Will the gear replacement solve the problem with the lever assembly? Or do I need to replace both parts?
I don't know why you removed the original picture but thankfully another member when responded to you placed the picture in the qoute anyway, The central gear in this picture doesn't belong to a WM-2 walkman. This gear that you show in the picture belong to DD walkman series (like DC2, DD100, DD30, 33,..) Your walkman will work if you find a gear that belong to WM-2 If you place The DD central gear sold by mihokm or other sellers on this walkman IT WONT WORK. It has to be a WM-2 or WM-5 gear (both models use identical gears) to understand the differences between wm-2 central gear with other gears read the following topic to find out more. http://www.stereo2go.com/forums/threads/central-gear-wm2-5-vs-other-dd-walkman.5097/#post-38120
Apparently Marian made a gear specific to WM-2 gear. @mihokm is a professional and reliable advisor in this forum so I say trust this gear and go for it. meantime I would like to show you the 2 different gears of regular DD vs WM-2 gear from backside at left side you see a DD gear which a plastic component shells a metal disk and this is the main cause of gear to break. at the right, a very thin plastic that doesn't crack because there is no metal part inside it. and remember a DD gear will not work for WM-2 and WM-2 gear wont work for DD series.
Thank you. I really appreciate all the time and advice from the members here. It sounds like my WM-2 has a (broken) DD gear in it. Any idea how that happens? I will try to locate the solid plastic WM-2 gear.If I can’t find that I will order the version above.
