Cassette deck ads and reviews

When browsing old magazines I often see ads and reviews that otherwise cannot be located by doing google search. Sometimes they have specs and prices.

I you read the details the deck could be controlled by a computer making it handy for professional environments like Radio Stations "Use the computer cue up washing powder ad number 3". With a maximum of 16 decks being controlled by one computer the DJ could go home at night and leave the station running itself until someone else came in to do the breakfast show.

Of course the idea that the music, adverts etc could actually be stored as a files on the computer would have been dismissed as fantasy until the 1990s.

 

Thank you, bud, never heard of that name Eumig nor of that sophisticated deck.

EUMIG was an Austrian company producing audio and video equipment that existed from 1919 until 1982. The name is an acronym for Elektrizitäts und Metallwaren Industrie Gesellschaft, or, translated, the "Electricity and Metalware Industry Company."

 

They are a company I would normally associate with Cine Cameras and projectors. In fact a quick search on eBay.co.uk shows 210 items in that category and only two cassette decks. I wonder if the cassette decks were an attempt to move away from Cine equipment, which was being replaced by video before CDs had even been announced.

 

That image with the Commodore PET in the background brings back memories, I learned to program in school on a Commodore PET.
