Thought I should start of thread for my expanding collection, Today’s find Continental Edison, Compagnie RC 5698 1976 Made in Japan 4HP measuring 400 x 250 x 100 mm / 15.7 x 9.8 x 3.9 inch and I couple I picked up last Monday PanasonicRX4933L from 1984 Siemens Club RM745 From 1981 And finally this Sanyo M9998K from 1978 it’s abit of a monster and weights about 9 kg / 19 lb 13.2 oz originally it would have had 2 exterior microphones attached to the sides
Great boomers, the 9998K is a classic! The Continental Edison is interesting I think it's made by Sanyo, I recently picked up it's twin. I see OSS 117 on your shelf, classic movie! I recommend it to my friends here but it's hard to find on our local TV, wish they had made more.
Got afew new ones today including this Audio Sonic TC-956F of unknown year and this Sony CFD-60L from around 1995 And finally this Continental Edison RC5488 believed around 1970 but couldn’t find any more information

Ideale for retro computers like the ZX Spectrum, MSX etc i actually have a Commodore 64 I wonder where I left that, 8 years stashed in the shed haven’t been kind to this aiwa Another for the collection is this Plustron TVR C5C from the 1970s Little boombox Thomson RT330 from 1981 Added another #boombox to the collection, its a Thomson MRK361T dating to the early #1980s, a french market edition with all the buttons in french this one is rather smaller than my other boxes measuring just (l)36x(h)17 and 8cm in depth, but has good sound, early feature of a digital scan for the radio with presets, made by Asahi Electronics in Singapore although my best score has been period car audio for the montego 1988(ish) Alpine Pullout 7190L for €3 and some shelf speakers Picked these up today Panasonic RX1450LS From 1981 Grundig C8800 Automatic from 1979
Well done on keeping that Montego going, although makes your username a bit puzzling. Are you aware of this site? https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/?page=1&q=Montego It shows that there are no models of Montego with more than 100 left on the road in the U.K. despite tens of thousand being sold.
Great equipment! We don't see many boomers with French Writing on them and I love the Thompson Mini, that thing is really neat with the LED dial read-out, I've never seen that style before, if you get a chance can you post a photo of the back information plate? I see the bottle of beer, feel free to post in the beer and boombox thread, I'd love to hear about French or EU Beers, I got a really nice one from France that clocked in at a high %, expensive but delicious.
I presume you mean this mini Backing plate and other bits Ahh yes the name vwpowered, it’s a forum name I’ve used since 2002 i do have VW’s still, currently have a 1989 RE1900 16v Mk2 Golf, 1986 Golf 2 16v, 1990 Golf 2 GTI 8v, Modified Mk2 Polo with a 1.6 and fuel injection, also have a couple of more modern Passat Estates as well as three Montegos, Montegos are super rare in France now, Mines the only Mk1 known to be used daily but I know of afew laid up
Thanks! I've been combing the Singapore Newspaper Sites but haven't seen that model, I did see some Thomson Information that I'll have to dig into more. There's some interesting plugs on it, two headphone jacks? Nice car, I love those late 80's squarish sedans, my buddy had an Audi 5000 that we used to beat on, he bought it as a wreck and fixed it in his dad's bodyshop. All of those 80's cars had really thin metal and never lasted long, especially here in our salted-road Midwest, I never see them out in the summer.
I think the 2 headphone jacks are for adding more speakers, yeah I live in the countryside and even here 80s and 90s cars have mostly disappeared luckily they use no salt on the roads around here so the body is in really good condition it’s more rubbers bushes/pipes etc perish more quickly due to the sun, I’ve had the car around three years now and it’s been most most reliable car even outshining the wife’s passat which always seem to be broken
Got myself some vintage headphones not normally my thing but they have flashing lights, made by Golden Technica Model MD800/CD but can’t find any information about them on the internet, they have 2 jacks one 6.5mm for the headphones themselves and a small 3.5mm jack for the lights, certainly something different
i presume so yes still not looked at them properly yet need to take them apart see how they are wired up Got this for a couple of euros probably would have ended up in the bin, it’s tired but fully working and now saved to see another day Radiola 8419 Spatial Stereo presume late 70s
did some search (ok alot) Radiola was taken over by Philips, i found this a Phillips D8418 which has the same switchgear, both backs are exactly the same etc https://www.radiomuseum.org/r/philips_radio_recorder_d841800.html
Before then it seems Radiola was a Swedish brand and part of the same group as Ericsson https://www.ericsson.com/en/about-us/history/products/other-products/the-golden-days-of-the-radiola It would be interesting to know how many different brands Philips used over the years. I can think of, Norelco, Magnavox, Marantz, Stella, Pye, and now Radiola. I found this which gives a bit of an explanation. https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/showthread.php?t=9599 Of course car manufacturers have been doing the same thing for years. A schoolfriend's Mother had a Wolseley Austin 1100 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMC_ADO16
Just added this to the collection Europhon RCP110 Jumbo, Made in Italy I believe in the 1980s but can find little information for this model on the net, maybe others know of another the same
