Hello everyone. Earlier, I opened a topic in the walkman section. I wanted to buy a walkman and I saw this boombox while visiting the dealers in my area. It has some problems, I don't understand the repair business at all, but the price was so cheap that I didn't want to miss it.

The radio is working. There seems to be no problem with the speakers
Forward and rewind works, but the "play" button does not work. The seller told me that the belt of the "play" button needs to be changed.
There are some problems with the switches. some of the switches cannot move and some are hard to move.

First of all I want to order a belt. Does anyone know about the belt that will fit this model ?

Has anyone restored this model before? Maybe he can help me on what to do. I need to learn how to change the belt, how to clean the switches etc...

I'll try to fix it myself but if I'm convinced I can't do it I'll give it to someone who can fix it. I found someone in town who can restore a retro sound devices, but I haven't met yet. I heard he was asking for a lot of money, but he was doing his job very well. At least I order the belt myself and the repair person won't charge me 3x for the belt. This is generally the case in Turkey. If you do not buy the necessary part yourself, the repair person will ask you at least 3x more.

The good news for you is it's a simple deck in there, so changing the belt won't be too tricky. Also I suspect a good clean will free up the switches & sliders.
When opening, remove all the screws at the back & those around the side handles. Then you can pull the speaker section forward & get to the insides.
Always remember to open the tape door too :)

I will order the belt today. What size belt would you recommend 0.7 mm or 1 mm ?

Belts can affect sound quality as demonstrated in VWestlife's video.

Having said that, my approach would be to buy one of those bargain packs of belts to check that
    a) You have the right size
    b) Everything else, like the tape head is working.

If everything else checks out, then is the time to think about reducing Wow and Flutter by getting a better quality belt, although I wonder if some of those come out of a 50 belts for $3 pack.
