JVC Ads are a little harder to find, here's another from 1981, I don't know the model. This was a two-page magazine ad, pretty big money back then.

This one is nice ... it seems to be the first one on the right in the previous photo .... In the same photo I seem to see my KD-A7 and the amplifier in SUPER A class ... R-S77 one row above the Boombox on the right ... Thanks @Mister X

Everything in the photo looks up to date except the top TV's, luckily they also got better looking within a couple years and didn't look like they were from 1969. Anybody else see the organ? That would be a great YouTube Documentary, it seems like in 78 and 79 everyone (including Marantz) had a big ugly organ/keyboard, right before Casio and Yamaha took over with consumer models. Marantz's was going to be similar to a player-piano, it would play all by itself.

Biphonic? Is this achieved by positioning individual speakers?

Cool ads. Would be nice to see ads for their quadriphonic receivers like the 4VN-990, they had some cool stuff.

It's just signal processing. Here's an explanation of it:

JVC RC-S5, a very odd boombox that mostly came with a powered brick that plugs into the battery port. The optional battery pack is super-rare with the plug in version much more common. The MK-100 is a dictation recorder with a solid-metal build, I picked one up a few years ago, maybe the only one that's come up for sale around here, it looks very similar to the MR-200 micro boombox.

They were big money back then; several £1000s which would presumably have meant big profits for the manufacturers. If someone wanted to make a Youtube documentary they would have to be quick as the people these appealed to are probably all in their 80s now.
Actually someone seems to have already done one.

A better picture of a JVC organ partway down this thread.

The comments about their sound aren't very complementary though.

p.s. I wonder how many people realise that Jean Michel Jarre's signature sound is actually from a Dutch home organ, although it was Unique in both name and nature, being the first one with a chorus effect.

Organs, loved playing with them as a kid but that sound was so cringe-worthy, the keyboards that replaced them were so much better with all of the sounds they made, including "organ."

I do love a real pipe organ, some of our classic movie theatres used to have them tucked away up front and they were really amazing. Hockey arenas used electronic organs until the operators started dying off, now they just pipe in digital music.

I just listened to the Youtube video. A shame that the video is just random pictures that don't match the sound which could have been a radio programme.
I think the point at the end about them getting too realistic is true. I recall watching a Youtube demonstration of a Yamaha Tyros but stopped, when there was
rapturous applause from the audience, who were all men in their 70s at a Saxophone sound that sounded exactly like a saxophone. I want keyboards that sound out of this world, not like the local Jazz club. That is why I have a Roland JP8000 and a Korg Radias.

One of JVC/Nivco's Finest the 9420S from 1972, you can't help but want to play with it. Price is AUD! Anybody have one of these ultra-rare beauties?

Another classic not listed in the www.wikiboombox.com You have to love real figures, 1.8 watt output!

Is this what you mean Reli? From 1974, the JVC/Nivico CD-4, for this time period, this is a really nice looking system. I'm not in love with the "Advent-Style" Rear Speakers but the rest of it is amazing.

JVC 1979 For some reason, JVC was never really strong with their recievers, they never had the excitment like Pioneer/Sansui/Marantz but I'm sure they're pretty solid.
