Dogfish recently merged with Sam Adams but the beers seem to be the same quality and I tend to enjoy most of them, here's their new boombox box!
Dallas TX anything happening or I have to wait until the summer time to be off from work to be able to travel to events. 2021 Summer I plan to travel from Dallas to san-diego up the coast to Washington then East along the north of usa border kinda to Michigan and then back south to Dallas - anybody live in those area's? Sheboygan, WI is the first out of the way place to go to
You'll be kind of by me C2go, let me know when your travelling. If you go to Sheboygan, you want to go up that little peninsula known as Door County, it's amazing up there, I think Capital Brewery is on an island off the tip. I'd also circle around the UP of Michigan, one of the world's hidden gems, the beaches and scenery are amazing with a ton of history. It's one of the first settled areas of the USA, the first major trade went through the Great Lakes.
...so what‘s nicer on a rainy evening than listening to some tunes and have a nice brew go with it ? i‘m currently listening to a wonderful cinematic orchestra vinyl (man with a moviecamera), enjoying a cold unfiltered FRANKONIA cellar-beer - nice and tasty hops mixed with flavoury malt - yummy
Looks tasty! We have hockey play-offs tonight and my team the Wild are in it, I'll try to get a shot off (beer). What is the alcohol % of the Frankonia? I had a Vetter 33 from Heidelberger, that knocked me on my feet, I'd love to get back to that place one of these days.
I went back to an old Panasonic Camera to try to grab some better shots, oh well, there's still alot of work to be done...Anyway the AIWA CS-440 has always been on the radar and a good one came up for sale, the blue dial is the perfect color and the BMW style prop grill guards are a neat touch from a late 80's boombox. Don't be fooled, these are nice sounding attractive boomboxes but still a long way away from AIWA's best times. This is a Singapore Box, you can find more information on the manufacturing migration in the boombox archeology thread. So, on a whim, I tried some You Gotta Horchata from Prairie Artiasan Ales out of Oklahoma clocking in at a hefty 10.8%! This stuff is really good but like most of the beers I like, they don't last forever. I cleaned my local store out and this photo may be my only memory of it.
Yep, up working late in the office, cleaning and storing some electronics. The good news is my favorite, pumpkin beer is back! For some reason they don't do very well up here in the Midwest so we end up with the "high-end" brews like this delicious Pumking from Southern Tier. They've always been a contender sending us their best while some of the others have disappeared completely. Clocking in at a mind-numbing 8.6%, this is one of the better ones. So the Sanyo C-Series is not one of my favorites, there's a few that are kind of nice but overall, as you can see in the photo, the controls are kind of boring and the boxes plain. There's nothing like a little beer to change your outlook, I fired up my Sanyo C4 and she sounds great, it actually throws out some nice sound and pulls in the stations nicely even with the antenna stored down. This is a real compo box, the top separates from the tape deck but looking at the back I think there's some Sanyo Cords involved so you can't run it through other equipment. I bought this years ago at Goodwill, the younger members might not know of the good-ole-days when boxes like this were $6.99 USD. I left the price tags on the top, I might even have gotten on 25% off Thursdays, I did that quite often. Overall it's a great box, I just don't get excited about the controls but who knows, I have a few more Pumkings out back, I might fall in love......
The ending of a one hellish week... thanks to COVID I almost forgot what it means to actually do my job in the Lab! So, here I am, right now hiding from THe Boss and drinking some beer: Jean-Luc Ponty is harassing his violin, why do I still listen to such crap is beyond me I should definitely record more cassettes from Tidal! 'Forgotten Child' is my fav art-piece by Allois, aka The Boss, it depicts yours truly being seriously gender-disoriented but captures my overall mood
Glad your doing ok Jorge! This is definitely beer and boombox season, this one is special, the rarely seen JVC-561JW, I didn't fire it up so no lights are on. This is a very nice built even though it's kind of plain, I found this locally and it's been babied, maybe my nicest, cleanest find, the tape deck still works! Don't let the looks fool you, it weights a ton and has very nice chroming and buttons. Even better somebody left a recording of Rush Limbaugh's Radio Show from 2008 in the tape deck. It's so wild listening to what other people taped, sometimes kind of intrusive. My local beer to kick off boombox season is a Wabasha Brewing Company West Side Popper, loaded with smoked jalapenos, and you know I love the hot stuff! You other worldly members, feel free to post the good stuff, even if it's ouzo, since I love that as well!
Me too, I had all his albums as LPs and CDs, thats probably why nowadays I actually 'hate' the Dude... unlike all the noise/music I do not care about. Love it! Once I get enough space to work on bboxes, its twin brother RC-M60 is on my To Buy list!
No @Mister X .. I only have the Aiwa trinity plus another Aiwa ... These Jvc are very nice ... the 656L near here and for sale But from the photos it looks ugly .. if they were just electrical problems I would have already taken. .. but the battery cover is missing and has a couple of knocks on the metal part and a shame to see how badly some of these treasures have been treated
