Playing a mix tape from a friend - Kelvin. Playback on my Sony TC-K666ES and nicely-recorded to a premium BASF Reference Maxima TP II 90.

I can not remember which Sony ES 3-head deck I had in the 90-ies when I spent hours recording CDs and LPs unto cassettes. Definitely not 666, cassette was center-placed, and I would have remembered the number...

    Little did I know that:

I know where Kelvin / Paula got the idea for that J Card

The Old Grey Whistle Test was the BBC's serious Rock programme, concentrating on live performances in a bare studio, in complete contrast to the miming, fancy sets, and dancing girls on Top of the Pops.

I organized a Mix Tape Giveaway among a few friends and in the name draw, I drew Kyle's name. The theme of the project was recording to cassette, exclusively, from vinyl, in the decade of your choice- 1955-1965, 1965-1975, 70's, 80's, 90's, etc.

Kyle chose the decade of 1955-1965.

I bought this tape in a local Charity shop and played it today.
I had to stick the felt pad pad onto the metal spring first.
It was still in between the spring and tape but wasn't stuck down at all.
These cassettes obviously weren't made to last.

There again it is approaching 50 years old (although I realise, given the Carpenters popularity it might have been made after 1973)
    IMG_0161.JPG

Anyway it is probably older than Karen ever got to be.
Her voice lives on, on a tape that probably hadn't been played for decades.
I wonder what people will be playing music on in another fifty years ?
