You have to love the boomers where the back is as cool as the front. What do you do for power, batteries only? We can run them over here but I still have a 100v-120v transformer just in case.

While I have another brand, I'd get a Nissyo Transformer next, they seem to be the Cadillac for electronics. The one I'm looking at is around $115.00 USD, not a bad price if you have JDM Electronics.

Sony 1964, getting ready for the Summer Olympics, the Sony Tourist Logo would make a cool sign.

Mr X. That little transistor radio reminds me of my very first radio that my mother bought me back in the sixties. A Benkson or something like that. I remember listening to it all day long.

Even in the 70's us kids thought they were so cool, by then they were $5 USD but still super-expensive for a kid. Boomboxes really changed to world of portable radio after that.

I thought this was interesting, from The Japan Times 1966, I don't know when I first found out about videorecorders, I think they started showing up at Sears Department Stores? I do remember they were huge with giant rotary tuning VHF/UHF dials. This issue of the newspaper has some stories about Pan Am, that's why it has this heading.

Mr X. It's a shame they didn't put better quality capacitors in their top of the range discman.

What a beautiful advert for the D555!

I had one of these many years ago when CD was all the rage.
It sounded amazing. The DSP effects were a bit gimmicky/lame and I never actually used them that much. The EQ was handy though.
It stopped playing (but still powered up ok) and languished in a box, unused for about 10 years until I moved house and decided to have a clear-out and so I stuck it on ebay with no reserve and was amazed that it sold for about 500 European Euros about 12 years ago!

I messaged the winning bidder (in China) to make sure that he was clear that it wasn't playing and understood the ad text but he confirmed he understood and was as happy as a proverbial sand boy and urged me to post it to him asap!

Well, I'm glad it brought him some happiness and my bank balance was also temporarily happy.
    :loldiag:

Edit:Yes, my shaky, out of focus camerawork hasnt improved much in the last 12 years :D

It kills me thinking how much equipment was tossed out, it's nice to hear survivor stories even if the equipment doesn't work.
