Let me know how easy it is, I bought a mint one a few years ago but it's been sitting. It's much larger than it looks in the photo and really nice looking.
Easy to do but you have to remove the entire chassis complete from the casing! Unplug speakers & power/aerial wires take pictures as you go - I done so many of these I just know the routine! remember to support stereo use books place em where the speakers are on it's front & eject the door otherwise you will break the closing clip & it breaks real easy! once all knobs & switch caps are off carefull extract the chassis complete & turn over....deck is now easy to do but careful not to break the tiny microswitches that operate various tasks, music search & shutdown etc think there are 3 to be aware of! Almost the SAME as the 8190, the 8290 has a leter inproved deck although not really apparent in use! I just prefer the look of the 8290's cassette transport keys much neater & cool looking! Extremely reliable stereo's that will do another 30 years easily once serviced! I love em
