The audio is not great on my Sony WM-DD9 on the right channel. I have traced the problem to the 2 electrolytic caps on the output. They are tiny and I can't find them anywhere on either ebay or Amazon. In the service manual they are stated as: 6.3x5mm Electrolytic 470uF 2.2v Does anybody have a link for these capacitors? Thanks guys.
The only 470µF/2.2V capacitors I can find are in the power supply part (C801 and C802). Which electrolytics in the output do you mean exactly?
Mouser, Farnell and Digikey have large choices in electrolytic capacitors, but it starts at 4V and the minimum size is 6.8x7.7mm. I don't know if there is space inside for a bit larger component?
Yes correct StaticAudio C801 and C802 are in the PSU. I assumed they were in the audio circuit because this guy on YouTube was a bit misleading. Useful video all the same. But on my device they are way off 470µF according to my Capacitance meter. I might do a full capacitor change. It is 35 years old after all. But I think the two caps need to be those dimensions. Very tight for space in there. Repair Sony Walkman WM-DD9 Replacement Belt and Capacitors, Cassette Players - YouTube
I watched the video and I noticed he uses 6.3V capacitors as replacements, and my impression is that they are a bit higher than the old ones so there must be some extra space.
I found these at Mouser: https://nl.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Nichicon/RS60E561MCN1JT?qs=ET0bm%2B8TtG5lvU1c4NAUCA== Although it is 560µF, the tolerance is 20% so it would be usable I think. And the measurements are 6.3mm x 5mm
The ones in the YT video look like these: https://www.ebay.nl/itm/404211622914 You can see in my last picture the diameter is a bit larger because they stick out of the PCB a little bit. That could correspond with the 8mm diameter.
