Some cool equipment from 1984, by then Marantz was back to Marantz, no UNIX with the Bustang Model. There's even some swag at the end, the one looks like a money bag that looks like a Sports Walkman. I'm a big fan of mini-stereos, check out the Technics 007 System, I used an inflation calculator and it came out a little under $2000 USD just for the amp! I've never seen the EQ in ads before, is anybody familar with this system? I'm looking for a tape deck and now the EQ.
Japan 1990, Some of these look better on the backside, check out the rear firing tweeters on the Sony.
The only place I've ever seen that Technics 007 is on here Technics 007 for sale. (audioscope.net) It's sold now, but has some colour photos of the unit, but even they don't have the equalizer.
1001 Hi-Fi has it on his site, I just checked and one of the photos has the EQ, there's also a photo of the box. I just need to find a tape-deck and EQ, the tape deck goes for massive silly money and I've only seen a few up for sale.
Sorry, can't read it but it looks like a Karaoke Boombox, I've posted a similar one I own. They use special CD's and there's a video out, I'm pretty sure that puts the lyrics up on the monitor. From 1993, found on Twitter, sorry I don't know the magazine it was in.

From Stereoplay Magazine 1987, the top boomers, with price in DM and date of manufacture. The Telefunken HP 800 and AIWA CA W 90 go head to head! I don't have either so I can't tell you which one wins.
From Stereo Review 1979, a few Centrex by Pioneer Boomboxes with pricing. USA Electronic Pricing was always heavily discounted from list, usually something like 10-30% off these prices.
I've been watching the excellent fan made Van Halen Documentary on Youtube, lot's of boomboxes! https://www.youtube.com/@TheTapesArchive Obviously cut and pasted but it looks like a Samsung or Goldstar, Eddie hooked up with Zappa in the early 80's, did some guitar work on his kid's album. The first tape played at Eddie's new 5150 Home Studio! Who would have guessed a cassette tape! Another killer photo! Can anybody identify the speakers? The R2R looks like a Teac. There's actually two boomboxes on the piano, can you imagine how many cassette tapes full of music he had? Prince used to carry around a cassette recorder for the same reasons.
More..... What's odd is that I heard DLR in an interview back in the 80's say he didn't listen to other's music, something about being the best or he didn't want it influencing his music? Where have I been, Michael McDonald wrote "I'll Wait?" I haven't heard that before, this is the photo that shows up during that part in the doc. Check out the big Pioneer and boombox on top of it, I wish I knew what happened to all this equipment. People think these stars all had very high-end equipment but the photos rarely show it.
I've watched most of it and didn't see much more but there's a crap-load of cassettes in several photos, it would be fun to interview these guys and see what role cassette recording had on the industry. We all know the story of Keith Richards and Satisfaction, I have to believe there's many more. Michael looks like he's have fun, cutting and pasting keyboard bits, I can't tell if that's a TEAC on the right but they were very popular for mix-down using all four tracks, the other unit looks like a normal R2R, maybe where the mix ended? It really looks like a small home studio for impromptu ideas.
Penthouse 1981, some beautiful tape decks! Note the Toshiba Component Deck accepts an FM Tape Cartridge, this is the first I've heard of a big deck taking one, I wonder why it didn't get more popular? Toshiba Tape Decks are kind of rare around here, I don't think I own one. Phase Linear, Pansonic RX-2700, yum, yum.....
