I didn't know that they made case's for all of the walkmans of Sony wm case, so I did a little searching here:

I really think that was a different one. It has a slightly different crease in the box. Guessing he had multiples.

 

Perhaps you're right. The bottom corner on the right also seems in slightly better condition.

When I get it. I'll take the measurements and post them here so other people can fashion their own case.

 

Never seen a 20th commemoration DD9 in this good condition anywhere. Very tiny signs of wear. The price is the earth though, just for the sticker on the spine.

This sticker I have not seen before.
The DD30, DD10, DD9, along with many others https://walkman.land/year/1989, came out in the 10th anniversary year.
Was there a re-release of the DD9 in 1999? Or is there a scratch that is now no longer visible underneath?

 

It’s not a 20th year Walkman thing though. It’s just 20 year service anniversary. I am guessing it was given to some boss at Sony for his 20 year service working there.

I’ve seen this on Yahoo Japan for a while but hugely over priced and I really think it’s not that special, it was just a gift for someone working there.

 

Next thing you know, you'll be seeing 20 year stickers on different brands for different models of audio equipment to raise the prices of them

 

I wouldn't be surprised if there's only one or two of them. I have seen one of these over the years pop up 2 or 3 times and it costs anywhere between $10,0000 and $5,000 each time I see it.

 

For 5-10k, I will surely buy something else than a Walkman.

Those toys make searching for Sound Burgers on Jauce very difficult. I quite fancy a Bluetooth Soundburger to go with my 1980s one, but have yet to find a used one either here or in Japan with a price that makes sense compared to buying a brand new one from Audio Technica with a warranty.

We see the same ones on eBay new from Japan for about $200 but if you got caught with import duties you would be back to £200. If it was faulty you would be beyond that. I did bid on an "As New" one being sold in the U.K. but it ended up selling for about £180, at which point you might as well pay a bit more for a new one.

 

It was almost like an episode of LGR Thrifts today as we went around Charity shops in Highcliffe, where the average age is "retired", and house clearances are common.

This Panasonic Power Blaster was tempting for £10 although I can't justify the space it would take up. I picked it up and was surprised how heavy it was, initially wondering if it had batteries still in it. A shame Panasonic seemed to think that you needed either CD or Line In, rarely fitting both to their units.


The same shop "Age U.K." had a boxed Yamaha keyboard from 1990 for £25.

No. The Jackal is something eBay showed me when I was looking at something different. I'm not sure if those were ever sold in the U.K. Sony did sell a TV Radio Cassette but the styling was similar to the Crown's from that era.
