Motherboard discolouration!

    Hi all,
    after replacing the laser pickup for my CD5400 and still didnt work, I decieded to check the bottom of the motherboard and found this discolouration below a couple of chips and transistor!
    Is this discolouration due to overheating? or just normal wear and tear?

    Looks like flux. See if it cleans off with a cotton swap "Q-tip" and 70% alcohol. If it cleans off it isn't likely to be heat related.

    You actually made me remember that this was still out on the wood pile. I need to do something with this. It's junk.

    That Board looks like it's out of a Sharp James.. Earlier, Maybe a GF9191 or something like.. But the JDM model..
