Is there anything wrong with playing a walkman for up to 10 hours a day, every day? As long as the motor is kept lubricated every so often? Not worried so much about replaceable parts like gears but would this kill the motor?

It was meant to be used and I can tell you these got some use so why not enjoy it while you can.

Oh I definitely do, pretty much using it as my primary music source all day while I work, hence the question. I spent a lot of time and effort in restoring this particular walkman so don't want to overuse it to the point that the motor dies within a couple of months after all that!

Which begs the question? What particular Walkman is that?

I have a D6C and honestly use it about 10 hrs a week. And still going strong, it has had one major service and that was about 2 years ago.
Still sounds awesome, but saying that I am in my late 50’s so my hearing may be going (lol)

Thanks, 10 hours a week is pretty light though compared to 10 hours a day lol

    I
It was heavier in the 80’s and nineties(at least 40hrs a week)and to be fair I can’t play it during the day because of my work, but 4-500 hours a year isn’t too bad. And I have other mediums of music that I listen too.(CD’s)

    Cheers Kiwinut
