That logo is really neat! Jorge started a thread on here somewhere with all the oddball names they came up with. We call those screws "pig nose" over here, you can find them used to attached plastic cassette doors to the metal on tape decks. I've got pig nose pliers from Harbor Freight with small diameter ends just for these screws. I've used them on cars but I can't remember what part they were for.
Sorry you're incorrect. This is a pignose. Inside the pignose. And an angle shot of the side back and top. I just can't stand when people can't call the right thing the right thing. Check out that pignose also known as the power on switch and volume knob. And you're welcome.
I've also never seen this before, but I'm pretty sure it belongs there as it's perfectly matched with the buttons etc and it doesn't look aftermarket at all. NEW LIFE NOW!
It's the same player basically, but has only 1 headphone jack rather than 2, and no tuner pack option. And it's 1000 times less cool than the JC-7 because the JC-5 doesn't have the NEW LIFE NOW logo on it.
The Aiwa PX580... by itself not a very special player, although I do like the design with 4 square buttons. But it has a nice quirk:

A dedicated "TELL CALL" switch, something I haven't seen before. I still have to try what it does, I guess it's a mute switch of some sort. Was this common on Aiwa's at that time? I have many Aiwa's and haven't seen this switch on any other. I saw another post with the same question but no answer... any insights in the meanwhile?

I recall reading somewhere that it can mute the output during an incoming phone call, when the phone is in close proximity of the unit. Like hearing the telltale noise over the speakers of your PC or radio back in the day, prior to an incoming call.
Gotta love the red ones! It seems that these also all have a different shade of red, but it could also be a matter of aging and/or lighting.
After the WM-7, another unboxing. And what a box it is. I really love it. The old Walkman logo with the feet always makes me smile, it's so good to see it on a box. I think they never put this logo on an actual walkman, except for one - the EX1HG Gold. Can anyone confirm if this is true? Do you know of any walkman with the walking feet logo?
The WM-30, successor of the WM-20 foldable walkman (more on those later). Opening the box reveals the fantastic WM-30, earphones, a bag with paperwork and the original receipt/warranty card.
The WM-30 is another piece of art. Beautifully designed if you ask me, with the "striped aluminum" look. This may sound as a silly description, I am referring to the lines in the metal that you can clearly see through the black paint.
Here we have the small Sony hands again, pulling the walkman from side to side to extend the body, so a tape will actually fit in. This is the same as the WM-20.
