I hope I’m posting this in the correct forum? anyway, any info on this item? Year it came out, any good, current value? Thank you! General Electric: Bass Boost, Single Cassette, FM-AM Radio. Model 3-5624A
First of all, Google is your friend. Second of all, I don't get these basic models unless they come for free in a lot. On top of the box is a general electric 3-5633a and it has a three-band equalizer auxiliary in and double cassette with AM FM radio high speed dubbing & yada yada yada.
General Electric 3-6200a Which is in front of the other General Electric. I just mentioned I could go on but I'd be here all day. Ps I just noticed that you're in the USA. I'm in Dallas Texas. Where are you?
Well that box that you posted a picture of is your basic model. Whether it works, that's up to you. Me I wouldn't spend more than $10 or $15 or $20 or so for it. But then that's because I know how inexpensively they're made and I'm quoting such a low price because I know I have to fix it which is what I do. And I fixed the cheap ones, the media for ones, the good ones and the expensive ones. And I've sold them all I still have about. I've got counted lately but maybe 300 or 100 boomboxes the various brands and names.
Well if you've got an extra $35 and nothing else to play your cassettes with then okay. I just took a closer look of the model that you posted a picture of and only has a volume with a on off switch for the base. That's extremely basic. No balance, no tone just on and off base and loudness, Wow! On the floor lower left, I have a sharp GF -9696 fully working. I'll let you have it for $1,100 cash and I have a few other models in this room for less
$1,100 aint nowhere near my $30-40 budget besides, I like basic cheap retro items. The one I posted just reminds me of the one I had in 1988.
When I go looking for portables I don't have a budget. As the most I've ever spent is just a shy of 10k at one time on a bunch of radios.
After 1985 it was hard to find a cool boombox without spending big money. The GE you posted was probably under $40 USD when new and nothing special, like C2G says, there's really no collector value and even if you just wanted a radio cassette, personally for me, it's over-priced. Sometimes I see similar players at thrifts and antiques stores, usually $15 but I just keep walking. Maybe post a wanted thread below, I'd send you one but I don't know if I have one that basic. Something like a Hitachi TRK 8210, Panasonic RX-5100 or Sanyo M9901 tend to hand out around $50, they might need a belt but they tend to be much more stout.
Thank you. Yeah I’m not into anything fancy, just something basic that reminds one the one I had in 1988 (wish I could remember make/model) kinda like any of the ones listed below. But I will post in the wanted add and see if there’s any available. General Electric: 3-5624A Sanyo: U4-S8 Sanyo: M7024A Sony: CFS-210 Panasonic: RX-FM14
I used to have this one and I have one now Panasonic RX-FM14 Strap Handle Peach review Mini boombox Years ago I think i sold it to a friend in nyc Sony Soundrider CFS-210 mini cassette stereo radio portable Boombox Sanyo MR-U4S8 - I may have something close to this. Sanyo MR-U4SS red Sanyo M7024A - I do not have this. General Electric 3-5624A I do not have this, nope
Yeah the one I had which was bought in 1988, could also have been an 1987 model. But it was cheap (£20 in England) black, square-ish looking with a long handle on top, and I think with black plastic type buttons on top. For the life of me I just can’t pinpoint it down, but from memory and looking online, it looked like the ones below. General Electric 3-5624A or the 3-5622A Sanyo M7024A Sanyo MR-U4S8 Sony: CFS-210 or the 201 Magnavox AQ5090
