My buddy brought over one of these rare Suzuki Omnicord to mess around with, these are pretty neat, you stroke the silver flat area and it gives a bunch of notes that can be changed with the tiny square buttons. I didn't get a lot of time to really check it out, does anybody own one of these? http://www.suzukimusic.co.uk/omnichord-heaven/models/om27.html
When the future becomes retro. I actually had a play on an Omnichord back in the 1980s. I recall that they seemed expensive compared to Casio keyboards back then. Anyway, today I learnt what an Autoharp is The Toshiba MSX Music keyboard, which I have had since new in 1985 when they got reduced to £99, has a similar strum pad but I have yet to find a video of anyone demonstrating it. This guy is obviously a Pianist but you can see it top left of the keyboard.
I want to see the strum pad! I wonder if they're all similar to the Stylophone? I got the Beatbox a few years ago when it was reissued, they are a ton of fun to mess around with. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stylophone
Traditionally Stylophones have used a stylus (hence the name). Both the Omnichord and Toshiba use finger resistance so even the thinnest gloves would stop them from working.
