Hi, I recently got a new Sony wm 101 , the belt was melted, I cleaned up and fitted a new cheap belt , the sound quality is bad so I ordered a good belt, but the problem is while everything else it seems to work the autoreverse is not, something moves, because I pressed it with the Walkman open but it doesn’t change the side of the cassette , what should I do, look for? thanks

It would help to know what exactly moved because this walkman can have cracked gears and it sounds like this isnt electrical unless the magnet circuit has failed.

Autoreverse on these models (WM-100, 200, 500 series) is electronically controlled.
The external button presses on a leaf switch (S702), which is common to have oxidation on it as do the other leaf switches in those units. Case in which it may need cleaning or even light sanding.

However it's unclear what "autorverse not working" means in this case, if it's just the button that doesn't work or detection at the end of tape also doesn't work.
Detection at end of tape is triggered by reel not rotating.

And cracked reel gears, frozen small gears beneath the plate, cracked clutch gear can all be problems on these models.

Does that white gear rotate ? When mechanism switches from FWD to REV that gear need to rotate one full cycle of 360°.
To be noted that green lever can split where it connects to the solenoid.

I couldn't see it in the manual but I'm fairly certain that red part "moving" is part of the button mechanism in which case deoxidizing the autoreverse switch is the thing to do

All models of this type I have worked on have been affected by oxidization in some way

Hi! The white gear does not rotate, if I rotate in manually by pushing it a bit while the tape is playing, it does switch the tape side, but otherwise it doesn’t move not even when I fast forward or rewind. The green lever looks like it’s working , when it’s set and I click on DIR it does disengage but the white gear does not spin. I uploaded a video on wetransfer so maybe is easier https://we.tl/t-NGDUAtM9IM
