Recently i got my hand on a kit of diy mdr e282 shell from china wizard,does you guy have any suggesttion for a cheap earbud with great driver,i see a few option ranging from a25 to a34/44 but i don't know what their equivalent driver is but as it already known that w20/a20 use same driver as e262 but they have gone up in price recently.
I was looking at the taoboo and the shells are very expensive. Around $200USD? (it shows 700rmb but when I click on it, it shows 1300rmb) Someone on headfi DIY it. https://www.head-fi.org/threads/cli...2-reproduction-shell-kit-build.899252/page-12 My my experience, drivers from MDR-A series has too much bass after transfer it to earbuds shell.
I was planning either to source out the best driver variants of e472 ,or get the upgraded e464 driver(from e454) or getting e245(the cheapest ones with driver from e262) or source out driver from e557 or e552(since i heard that one in two of them from some forum i don't remember is on par with e472 as i have both frequency graph of e472 and e557)
The 1300rmb is for fully assembled brass copper shell ones with aiwa driver while 700-900mb is only for the shell as i search on xianyu there is three type of shell are being sold, with brass copper or nornal copper for 780 rmb,and the 925 silver ones sold for 980.
e472 has so many variants. It's like opening lottery. Most of them has great vocal but lack of details and comes with a remote control. The one with the better drivers seems to be the one with the olderest style pure walkman plug. (not the plug that have mix both 3.5mm and walkman plug) Another egood 472 is the one with "golden bar" with no remote but it's rare to find. (The e472 is different color bar at the middle vent. white, yellow, golden) What cable are you going to use for this build?
I'm between whether should i made it extremely budget choosing e454 best variants driver or getting the best sq with the cheapest wire cut e464 one(since destroy an e245 is not a good solution and most mdr a series have gone up in price at the same level as e series while cheaper a series ones is from the late 90 and most of them don't have good sq level).For the cable i might getting some small 26awg ones and made 2 twist braided cable for the build.
There was a few another option from both Toshiba-azdan (unknown code name that using turbo nude style system,and i have some image of its driver) and Panasonic hp rv-35(from a few bud i know from panasonic from that era likely use 15.2mm driver) since i see them have a pretty low profile design as well.

From the design of the shell and the era i think they have a smaller diameter but likely same low profile driver(at least it is better than getting some unknown turbi style ath or philips bud for them same price as e282/484)
