Yanwu, one of China's Largest Boombox Manufacturers tried taking market share from the Sharp GF-777, unfortunately there can be only one.

I'm seeing the photos in the first post. Does the Yanwu actually have a handle ?
From the photos it wouldn't surprise me if five sides were made out of chipboard. music centre style.

I didn't see a handle and I haven't had time to look for more photos. Sure it looks cheap but that's kind of the appeal, I've got LaSonic and Helix Boxes that are kind of flimsy but for some reason, people love those old flea market models.

Did you fix it? Mine was one of those ones where I told the guy I'd buy as long as there wasn't parts rattling around inside, guess what, there were parts rolling around so he threw in a vintage car stereo.

No, speaking namely about equipment and 80s, I could recall of maybe pens (fountain pens) but no equipment,
it all started flooding in in 90s.

Was going to ask when this Yanwu was active and decided against having asked AI :)
    Deepseek gave some clues:

Yanwu (燕舞) – China’s Iconic Boombox Brand
    1. Founded: ~1980s in Yancheng, Jiangsu Province.

    2. Peak Popularity: Dominated the Chinese audio market in the 1980s–90s with affordable, colorful boomboxes.

    3. Famous Slogan: "Yanwu, Yanwu, a song a step!" (燕舞,燕舞,一曲歌来一片情) – Their ads were everywhere on CCTV.

    4. Products: Tape recorders, radios, and later VCD players.

    5. Decline: Failed to adapt to CD/DVD tech in the late 1990s and went bankrupt (~1998).
    Legacy
    • Nostalgia Brand: Yanwu is now a retro icon in China, symbolizing 80s/90s pop culture.

    • Collectors’ Item: Vintage Yanwu boomboxes are sought after for their nostalgic design.

And a link to Baidu with some other models of this company:
