So for the last weeks i've been gathering information on which Sony remotes for walkmans are available and which remote came with which walkman.
Also been looking in which remote could work with another walkman.
I've been seeing so many questions asked on the net about which remote goes where that maybe it's a good idea to put all that information in one thread.

My idea was triggered by this thread
    https://stereo2go.com/forums/threads/how-proprietary-are-the-walkman-remotes.8990/#post-88737
but i could also use that info myself to fall back on in case i find a single unit without remote.

So here's the list, it's probably not complete so if you have a walkman/remote that's not on the list post it and i will add it to the list.
Also if you know that a certain remote works with a certain walkman that's not in the list, post it and i wil add it to the list.
So some spaces after remote number are empty, i've seen this remote but don't know to which walkman it belongs, do you? Post it!
From all the remote model numbers i've posted i've seen these being for sale so please only post validated model numbers.
Some walkman have a question mark behind it, i'm not sure if these will work, i need verification on those.
Please only post remotes for walkmans, not discmans/minidiscmans only if one will work with a walkman!

To anyone who wants to use this information on their website please send me a DM.

    Notes:
    (9P) = 9 pin connector, (4PJ) = 4 pin connector + jack (MP) = Microplug (LP) = Line Plug (3.5mm)
Walkman model number between '( )' means that remote works with that walkman.

Great idea for a thread! For the WM-EX511 / WM-EX618, the MDR-EW21E was supplied in the box.

Thanks added to the list, FX70 probably will have RM-7F as remote.

    Thanks! Added to the list.

What kind of earbuds are on this integrated remote? Should be a number on the earphone wire where they split.

    Ofcourse :) thanks!

In the Service Manual for WM-EX59 it`s described the RM-WM70E with the Headphones MDR-E741MP//KSET . And the WM-EX53 has the Headphones MDR-E741//KSET .

Added RM-WM70E to the list...this remote looks the same as the RM-WM78 & 79E for the EX1 & EX2.....since this is a remote with detachable earphones they're not mentioned...EX53 has no remote

2 "EX53 has no remote" Yes, you`re right, that`s not The Big Headphones topic... And the 70E has a socket for Microplug ( MP ).

To be very precise, you must say, MDR-WX50 aren`t a remote, but wireless headphones.

Thanks Michiel added to the list.

This one is a fine line...the receiver + megabass + volume are build into the headphone but the whole thing is one integrated model. Its not a remote in the way to control play functions etc i agree.....so halve halve....nothing to worry about.

After i`ve got my WM-EX652, i can say, the Remote is the MDR-WME652.
    MDR-WME652.jpg

I`ve looked for in the SM, but it`s not mentioned :

    SM Remote 652.jpg

it`s a little bit confusing, ... anyway - the remote has fixed earbuds without any plug.
The RM-WME654 is for WM-EX654, it has a LED-Control and earbuds with MP.

It needs a little time, to discover the codes ... allright. But can you really use MDR-WME652 for WM-EX654 ? I think, there is differece in functions, but, anyway, it will work.

Because WM-EX650,WM- EX652 and WM-EX654 are the same walkman just different numbers for different markets.....so yes i'm pretty sure it will work....only EX650 didn't come with a remote but same walkman nonetheless.

I think, that the most of the different remotes, that fit to the similar sockets will work in one way or another. May be, only the functions then would be changed. There can`t be such a great difference in the combination of the used contacts .?

No not really....you have to consider that technology moves on also inside walkmans....It really depends on which micro controller is used in the walkman....some remotes work with a resistance string so the mcu can identify which button is pressed, others have a direct connection to the mcu and are implemented in a different electrical arrangement. So no just because the connector is the same does not mean it will work....old tech versus new tech....
