Sansui even got into it, from 1999, unfortunately it just doesn't have the pull like the stuff from the 70's. The stand is very goofy looking but the tape deck is very interesting and small.

Woow, so I looked over on ebay and found this sticker on a JVC Unit, it says "Manufactured At JSC" on the 2nd line. I check AI and it came up with this.

1980 Philips, you have to love the digital tape counter and those might be some of the smallest touch-controls on the tape deck. There's a tiny Sony Microcassette Player that might be close in size.

Grundig 1980, nice looking equipment and very German with the abundance of buttons and knobs.

1980 Blaupunkt, just when they were getting ready for the USA Invasion. We loved the sound of the name and they seemed to be marketed on the high end.

I honestly like those small buttons. They are easy to press and the gap in-between meant you never accidentally pushed the wrong button. I can remember back in the day of phones with physical number pads, Nokia releasing a phone which just a flat pad rather than having the buttons separated or raised. Worst phone I ever had for usability, texting was next to impossible!

I like the tiny buttons, AIWA was the king in the early 80's with them.

    Exhibit A! :D

Only Aiwa could have a record button for each input!

So I follow this guy's channel, he just has a whole heap of videos with pretty high-end midi systems playing old music. His latest video has a 90s what I think would be considered a mini-system though. No tape deck, but minidisc!

Funny, he's playing Keri Noble, I used to watch her locally down in a sketch part of town at a cool music bar. My buddy said she was big in Japan in the mid-2000's but then went on to be a local DJ until a few years ago.

I saw one video where he played a Japanese cover of Turn it into Love by Kylie Minogue, made me check whether it was originally Kylie's song (it was more or less) and apparently was only released in Japan (as a single).
