Hey all, I recently acquired a Sony WM-F701C in an auction lot. It looked perfect until I opened it up and saw the OG battery with the pull tab seal on it corroded in place. I’ve dealt with hundreds of corroded batteries but never on something this valuable. I dabbed the area with fine commercial grade vinegar and also tried some 91% isopropyl. I’m afraid to put more on the area. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you !

Remove the terminals and clean them with wire brush in a drill and/or sandpaper.
Depends how badly the terminals are corroded, as it's not always possible to save these terminals if corrosion ate away through the metal.

Thank you for the advice, I appreciate it. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to reach the terminals. The battery is under the factory plastic pull tab. I’ve been hesitant to pull to hard or try to force it out. When I eventually figure how to remove it safely I’ll follow your advice.
Perhaps I can unscrew the back and try that way .thanks again

Yes remove the back cover and eventually soak the terminals in contact cleaner.
The positive one comes together with a plastic piece on this unit, so that should be easier to remove.
