Hi all, great day at the car boots, I bought so much I'll have to do a fuller post later once the car is emptied! Will share my first buy of today purchased at 5.25am.....and it's fully working!
As you can see, gems can be found in the wild Talking about walkmans, I still remember when retro found a WM-DD9 at the market for peanuts & a sensational post from a newby who paid at wholesale price (=a few bucks) hundreds of rare walkmans from an itinerant seller -- the thread with AO's famous fainted goose
It's still my ultimate dream to find a DD9 at the car boot....and a D-Z555 CD Walkman. I was still very pleased to find the D6C, I have a few but I paid a lot more for those ones! I don't have a DD9 yet though, and I don't like the prices they seem to go for on Ebay!
Simon struck gold!!! WOW @samovar...It should be noted that Samovar found a lovely Sony CFS-45 in MY hometown while he was visiting! He proved me wrong!! The wild finds are out there folks....keep looking!
Nothing exciting at my local car boot sale but I did buy a fully working Matsui (Dixons own brand) and a Peter Gabriel tape for significantly less than the price of the MP3 download. It is actually far cleaner than it looks in the photo which seems to have picked up every fingerprint. Something I didn't buy was a complete Technics mini system for £15. Although it was a four piece (+speakers) all the components were connected together with ribbon cables and one speaker was damaged so it didn't offer anything over the JVC system I already have
Better than our local haunts. I'd have grabbed that walkman and the tape as well. I love P.G. His OVO album was a bit dry for my liking but his early work with Genesis is gold!
Hi again all, been really busy with work and visiting all the car boots the last couple of weeks. Here are some of this and last weekends finds...first up, and you won't believe it! If you look back to my Jun 2nd post you'll see I found my first car boot WM-D6C ever. Well, within the same month, I FOUND ANOTHER! And it works beautifully. Silent running, no clonking and excellent sound. Very mint condition, 309830 serial number. Battery compartment is perfect too! Also had it's case in a good condition and original strap in excellent condition so a nice bonus as they go for 10-20 pounds alone! Also these two sony walkmans and the illuminated Aiwa sign. Being the car boot, you can imagine how little I paid... The first in the pic is a Sony TCS-580V, second is the Sony WM-EX49. Also this Sharp 340E... And these...Sony D-231 and Sony D-2 Discmans. And a Technics SL-XP370... Some Sony MDR-XB700...these have HUGE earpads! Box of Blank tapes, no Metal ones and only a couple of Chrome but we can't win them all! Aiwa HS-G35 Panasonic RQ-SX33, wants to work but needs belts...has battery pack and remote/headphones And this National Panasonic picture in branded frame. Probably came from one of their offices. Can't believe two mint D6c's in the same month...this one was at the bottom of a suitcase mostly full of old hifi cables and plugs. I saw the orange Sony sticker showing through all the cables and I knew what was under there! Anyone else been out and about? Lets see your finds!
Simon= the Deech of the UK! What a haul! Aside from the D6C...I must say that AWAI sign is impressive!
Which boot sale is this? I had a few successful finds in and around the chichester area. the best being two boxed and unused Sony 1.5 volt Power adapters and a pair of boxed Aiwa 2volt adapters. £3 for the lot
wow - some insane finds! Good work My best recent find is prob this WM-20 that has cleaned up nicely but still requires some electrical work when I can afford to pay someone In the past 2 years, my favourites are a Dual CS-505-1 turntable, a vintage Rotel Amp and a cute Sanyo Boombox - bought separately, but in total cost under £10
I aspire to see the sort of boxes Deech shows us from his travels! I must have missed the boat on those by a few years here in the UK as I've never seen anything close to a grail box yet and believe me, I'm there at the very earliest times. It's my hobby (office job weekdays so lots of sitting down) and I find some very interesting bits and lots of things I don't show on here as they're not quite in keeping with this site but my main reason for going in the first place is to look for Walkmans, Discmans, Minidisc and Boxes so when I do find a nice Walkman that's the really good day for me. Still no 555, DD9 or Khan yet But I hope one day I can write that post!
Great haul simon, 2 d6c and those headphones, i have the xb 1000 which i imported from japan and there even bigger haha, don't think i have found anything like this at bootsales in the last 20 years, the welsh never part with anything worthwile...congrats fella
Welcome to this weeks show and tell. Just a few things this week..... First up, a very interesting looking Sony VRD-MC3. It's a CD/DVD Player/Writer but it looks a lot like an ipod in places! Found a couple of regular Sony Walkmans. and Also a nice tape rack which I've placed some of my tapes in. It was made by the previous owmer from an old Napa Valley Company box, it has the name stamped on the side. Think I may paint it white while I'm off work next week. An unused Philips CD Player And some Sennheiser headphones which were £54.50 when new from John Lewis in 1993. All paperwork in the box was printed 08/91. Did anyone have a pair back in the day? Would you remember if you did!? May have a couple more items to add tomorrow when I get to the car boot!
