This model is a collectible one.
any of them come with box and accessories? Do you hear the motor is running when you push the play button?

One of them has the box and accessories...minus the battery charger. the other one is just the unit.
The nicer one seems to make noise when i hit play and the light comes on briefly. i do not see anything moving inside though.

In my opinion take it to a technician to repair it. The one with the box might be an easy fix if you hear the motor running. most probably It might be a drive belt issue.
You can also refer to service manual to see whether or not you can place a new belt yourself.
We do have professional members who can fix your walkmans. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find a walkman technician in US for the last 5 years searching ( I send mine to Europe to get repaired).

This file is the service manual for your walkmans
See if you can change the belt by looking at the service manual.
You can remove the back plate and get access to the drive section to install a new belt

Thank you for the information. Are the parts for this interchangeable with the 701c?

yes. That is why you are in luck. You have the chance of having both walkman repaired. In worse scenario your 2nd walkman can be used for parts to repair your better walkman

The belt is pretty easy to repair. But putting the Walkman back together is a little tricky do take your time.

My 707r did the same thing and now it works pretty good.

You can also buy gum batteries and charger on Amazon.
