Ok, so long story short, i was trying to demonstrate the low wow & flutter abilities of my new D6C to a friend by shaking it vigurously (no comment on that...), and for some reason, everything is slow now, the music is slowed down to hellish-voice speeds, even using the manual speed doesnt do anything.
Anyone got any advice or explanation of why this is happening? Thanks.

Maybe you shook your Sony D6C hard enough to move some dust particles around enough to disrupt the rotation of your transport there you need to open it and blow it out with some canned air?

what do you mean by "disrupting the rotation of the transport" ?

I have un assembled many cassette deck in mostly boombox and I have seen some that had dirt attached to the belt and that was causeing a ' hump' in the rotation or the drive and thus I would call this a disruption as your normally smooth tape travel now has a periodic hump in the smoothness of the use to be constant travel of the belt- I hope you can understand this or do you need more clarification
    yes I have Two d6c's

Thanks for clarifying. I think i didn't get my point across correctly in my OP. I think the speed controller tells the motor to runs slower, as it is quartz locked and all. There is no real mechanical problem, i just don't understand why it's running so slow for some unknown reason now ? (Problem is not in power, batteries are good, and same problem with my 6V adaptor)

If everything is good, circuits and belts and dc power supply then the last to look at is the torque of the motor - maybe you need a new one now. as I have been coming across a few bbx needing motor's and these are so hard to find and they are so different as I have been un-assembling similar cd voltage bbx looking for a old enough motor that will play at the correct speed still.

I don't know about the motor but do you think somehow the quartz crystal got bad? When i take the motor off any load, it spins at max speed, then i drop it back onto the capstan flywheel, and it slows down rapidly to unbearably low speeds.

I strongly recommend that you send a pm to Dr.Walkman, flash_the_84. Not because Cassette2go is no good (on the contrary, he's excellent -- hi James :wavey:). But I see that you're based in France, and DrWalkman is in Italy, which is a close call if you deem it necessary to send the unit to somebody for repair. He's also one of the greatest authorities on the D6C on this site, so maybe he can give you the right tip concerning your problem.

Don't worry this site sends an e-mail out, when you send a PM.
