Hey guys ! I recently found a WM-D6 in my dad's closet, i changed the belt but there is one problem, the motor turns about twice the normal speed and no sound is comming out of the headphones... Is this because of the IC601 / CX20084 ? Thank you! P.S : FF AND RWD WORKS
There is no CX20084 chip in the D6. The problem could be a FET and or NPN on the CP602 motor drive module. It could be a dry solder joint or a cracked PCB track, which the D6s are prone to. Firstly, I would check and see if the 11V rail is present as if there is no 11V the motor will run fast and you will get no sound. If there is no 11V, see Mihokm's thread here for instructions on repairing the DC - DC convertor: WM-D6C DC-DC converter fixed If you have 11V then the problem could be the CP602 potted module. I have sucessfully repaired several of these and will post instructions here shortly on how to do so. The lack of sound could be a failed mute module (CP301). Please see my ebay listing for these for details of what the module is and how to check if it is faulty. Replacement CP301 Mute module. Please PM me is you have any further questions.
