One of the most recognizable issues of the cassette is the background hiss. Almost any person in this world (30 years-old and above, though) whom you ask about cassettes will complain about this particular thing: the hiss. C'mon, hear the noise. Magnetic tape has many good things, but it also has drawbacks, and one of them is the hiss. Most cassette enthusiasts don’t like the hiss but at the same time, many of them don’t care at all. So, how much hiss does the tape have and how to reduce it? In this article I will go in deep and explain everything you need to know about the noise of your cassettes and magnetic tapes. PS: Noise reduction systems will be explained in a future article
@buzbox You nailed it for me!!!! I never use Dolby no more, enough "perfect sound forever" from my other toys... Wish I could add W&F to my terabytes of digital files Still..., I do not see the promised article!?!
Here's an interesting article from a few years ago you can read for now. Why does analogue still feel good in a digital world? http://theconversation.com/why-does-analogue-still-feel-good-in-a-digital-world-25609
Well I like the noise of the cassettes, but only if it's low. I want to hear it only between songs. Anyway, this is an article about how it is, what are their causes and how it affects music. It's not an article to criticize it, but to study it. Sorry! I don't know how I missed it. solved.
