Hello. My first DD that i have repaired some time ago, (center gear repaired with epoxy mass) started clicking noticeable so i decided to repair center gear one more time with better epoxy and some experience from that time. Playback was great before my second repair. I dissasembled all mechanism, cleaned it carefully and precisely assembled. My second repair of center gear was superb, ideally 1 teeth added, no clicking, perfectly fine. After assembly this happened. I don't know what is going on. It is electrical problem? FG coil? Everything was perfect before dissasembly. Video:
Did you try to adjust the tension on the capstan wheel ? Also check for the greasy capstan rubber or motor pinion.
Hello. Sorry for delay. I didn't touched it, everything was perfect before my dissasembly. I will check that anyway.
What is the condition of the rubber ring on the capstan? In my experience if that rubber ring is not sitting flat or has tiny dents in it then it will surely cause wow and flutter. Remember, the capstan rubber is always in contact with the motor.
Hello. After one more assembly and using high quality teflon grease, Walkman works great. Little adjustment on tension on capstan wheel was done. That was the reason of flutter. I also have one more question. What are all things to adjust in Sony DD II? I mean, i have second DD thats sound quality is not so good. I adjusted head azimuth, tape travel scerw and also speed. But what things i can do to improve sound quality?
