Hello everyone . How do ?

From today I'm lucky owner of DD33 . I bought it already fixed with a new central gear. I was trying to adjusting a tape speed using a RV601 on the main board and using cassette with 3000Hz signal. Without success, trying to setup 3000Hz but I'm getting 2950Hz, and then when I turned RV little bit speed jumps up to 3250Hz then going up to 3400Hz , then back again to 2950Hz , can't setup to 3000Hz .
Do I do something wrong ?

I am sorry for the inforamtional spelling

Please can anyone will help me.

I think it should be the same fix as for the "scratchy" volume VR: put a drop of DeoxIt on VR601, rotate it a few (dozen) times, and it will fix the problem If not, substitute this pot for the new one

Are you following the DD33 service manual? DD33 is quartz locked, and the speed must be set with the solder bridge open, set to 3090hz, then close the bridge.

Even then, you usually do not need to set speed in these, they are usually accurate to +-10hz, usually 5. Unless you are having an underlying issue.

    Hi all ,

Thanks very much for all your help .

,,bub,, - yes I know, I fixed it yesterday .

I was set RV601 up to 3250Hz then I used a flat screw driver to connect the bridge( after that motor speed slow down up to 3050Hz+,- ) ,
then I was able to turn RV601 screw to the required frequency [IMG] . Finally I soldered the bridge. Now I can setup (using a Rv601) 3009Hz +,- without any problem [IMG] .

Just update some photos maybe can be useful for someone

I cannot remember everything. I forgot that DD stands for " direct drive" ?
    DD33 is quartz locked
If something is locked in speed there has to be a sensor or, I don't know.
I'll just get to these when I run out of boombox's to repair as I came accoss a box of walkmans that I bought from Germany long ago and I never opened it and all I can remember is that it suppose to have a grundig Walkman in it. But I am not into the walkmans just yet, I do not know why I am here typing all this. glad this was fixed and the pictures shown of what was done.

DD in the Sony Walkman's case stands for Disc Drive. It is a rim type drive. There is a Direct Drive walkman- Panasonic RX-s40/41.
It does sense speed via FG coil underneath the capstan, and compares it to quartz reference.

Good job on getting it set. Check the flywheel thrust to make sure it isn't too tight and oiling the capstan bearing helps too.
