I finally got round to recording a proper demo video for my new D6C!
I filmed it using a Nikon D620, and recorded using my computer's line-in (I do not have my external DAC at the moment, but the sound is still good enough!). The music was recorded onto Sony FXII budget chrome tape using Dolby C on the same D6C. The audio is otherwise straight from the player, no DSP ! I chose this song for it's treble, given by the classic TR-808 drum machine.

Here is the video link :

(And yes, that is tape behind it, 5 minutes of TDK SA to be precise!)

I want one like this but at the moment 350€ is more expensive for me. I would prefer expend this amount of money in a 3 head advanced cassette deck un wich i have more priority than a walkman with this prices, but i want one for me. Greetings!!

I got this perfect working example with it's leather case, original power brick and leather additional battery pouch for 250€. Keep looking for sweet deals on your local resale sites and eBay, good deals don't wait for you!

I don't think you will find a 3 headed deck for €350, well i guess you may get lucky.

I recommended him some decks that could be found here in local 2nd hand for even less than 150 euros. I bet he will get one and will be soooo happy...

Really like how everything stands out on this 2-head unit! It's not functionally far from my first deck (Kenwood KX-500), yet it's so far ahead in terms of quality, also only 3 years later! Shows how fast technology moved at the time.

Thanks for the video. Yes the D6C is one of the best sounding walkmans and yet a good deck and your video proves it. Even with a basic type I tape and Dolby C it can sound very well.
However, I see the meters to go up to -10 and this indicates that the recording has been done way under proper level. Can you confirm that?
The meters should go in this case (with this tape) up to zero in the highest peaks.

Yes indeed, my music player (foobar2000) wrongly assumed the volume of the song, because it has something which makes all sosngs the same perceptible volume. A part in the middle of the song is a bit loud, therefore the rest of the song is very quiet, the peak should go to -3 dB, as Sony uses the DIN scale (the Dolby mark is there). This mixtape was recorded a bit too quiet overall because I randomly picked the loudest song of the playlist and adjusted it from there.
