OOOOO, now seeing, wrong part of forum. This post should be in boomboxes. How can I remove it to BB chat?
Moved. And hell yes go and get that Crown, in fact what are you still doing here go get it already!!! £70 is a great price.
I have recently buy used Crown 970 and spending some time with Crown, listen to its big 20cm woofer and 2x10 red led level metar, then selling it because of poor tuner reception and line in was not good. Allredy liked 945 because analog vu meter.
The obvious difference is that the 950 has LED VU meters while the 945 has old fashioned meters. LED meters were a big thing back in the late 1970s early 1980s. You could buy the components to make one (single channel) at Maplin (big UK electronics retailer) for about £10. In contrast a little meter like in the 945 would cost about £3. Even more high tech were digital displays. Back in 1979 I remember a bloke at work making a Hi-Fi tuner with a Digital Frequency display (still analogue tuning though) and everyone thinking it was really high tech. I think the frequency display module cost at least £30. Fast forward ten years to 1989 and a colleague who was sent to the local electrical retailer to buy some desk fans also bought himself an £100 Technics Graphic Equalizer because he liked the Spectrum Analyser display on it
Yes, and thats only difference betwen 945 & 950. Not so impressed with 945, thinking to put it on ebay.
If the sound is like the 950 , is pretty basic, I have the 950 but you can say that is just for looks.
