    Hi,

I picked up a Sony Walkman DD11 on ebay untested

It looks in very good conditon inside and out but has no power

Do these have a common problem with no power ??

    thanks

Could be as simple as one of the cables broken at the pcb. Best to take the covers off and inspect. The wires from the battery terminals can get quite fragile.

    I found the problem

The arm that is pushed when press play which has a hinge then pushes the leaf switch which activates the motor was slipping under the white plastic arm
The was because the hinge plastic post has snapped and that hold the top plate down over the brass wheel
I have slightly bent the arm up so it no longer slips under and now the player works great except for the music was like yodeling in the swiss alps
worked that out it was a very dirty pinch roller.
So the DD11 now plays great
Not bad for a untested dead out of the box unit :)

Thanks but I also found that this DD11 did not like the tape I was using to test it
I tried a different tape and the DD11 played fine
The felt square was the problem so I pressed on the felt square to increase the gap from the tape and now it plays fine
That same tape worked fine in my D6C and Sony FH-100W system
I had to fiddle around with the gap then the DD11 was happy with that tape
