Since you ask, I heard this on the radio for the first time in years a few days ago and it has been on my brain ever since

If anyone is wondering what happened to Cathy Dennis she went on the write songs for the likes of Britney Spears and Katy Perry.

This year it is Steven Wilson's "The Watchmaker": I had to set/hide LP in my other room, otherwise it just makes (read:ruins!) my day!!! Last year it was the latest from David Sylvian about minor Gods who scramble into oblivion... Sorry, soft-rap onto s@&€-'n'stuff of our miseries does not grasp me no more... Never did..., but at least now I got an excuse that I Am Old!!! But I do feel the sentiment!

My 'earworm' of late is a Swedish artist called Tove Lo. She had a guest appearance on a Coldplay (yes I like Coldplay before the haters all step-in!) song, I liked the sound of her voice, found some videos on YouTube and the rest is history. I bought 2 albums and can't stop listening to them! She's a bit risqué with some of her lyrics at times with some swearing, and she's not afraid to flaunt her sexuality (she regularly goes topless on stage at her concerts!) but given its the nougties we should all be used to that by now!

Always felt it was a better song than "Jesse's Girl"

I just saw L.A. Guns on Tuesday, the first time Phil Lewis and Tracy Guns have been together in years, I guess you could call them indie 80's hard rock icons, almost big but never quite there. They're still a major touring band and they always put on a great show and with Tracy Guns hypnotic guitar playing they sounded great. Rip and Tear!

about those Swedes: Ace of Base "all that she wants"... is another baby.... haunted me for decades, until I read in How Music Got Free that Swede dudes did not give a rats a$$ what is being said, it sounded good so the words with the right syllables were put for our enjoyment!
Oops, wrong reference! The name of the book is "The Song Machine: Inside the Hit Factory" and its video summary is here: The TRUTH Why Modern Music Is Awful

Right now I am listening (thru Sencor S-4800 bbox!) to my fav outfit Orb, their 2018 offering, and they reminded me (at about 10th min into their soundwall) of my other creepy favorite: Cows Dont Dream at Night by Electric Orange. It is an hour+ of electronic drone overlaid over some radio-news from the Soviets era, the commentator's voice/drone goes on and on on how many kg per square foot of grain we got harvested, etc etc... Constant background for my sweet teens in the 70-ies, 80-ies, this is totally wild!.. Talking about memory lanes, this sounds so creepy, wish I could forget the language and just enjoy the tune!!! Tangerine Dream did the same: some voice, incomprehensible for the target listeners (but in Russian!) thrown as a background... And this is why I am so in Love with Lisa Gerrard (Dead Can Dance) and Magma: no racial discrimination: when they sing in incomprehensible language, even Ukrainians like me cannot comprehend the lyrics!!!
Just in case I did not make myself clear: my fav tunes are about music, not message. With maybe one exception of Pink Floyd
I am done with my ramblings, lets hear your fav Bob Dylan tunes!!! Nobel Prize winner, and still no comments? I blame the Dude for paving the way to this years winner, Kazuo Ishiguro: now my all-time fav living writer is not so "hi-end" and unknown/boutique no more: everybody who still reads now knows about him

Believe it or not, I partied with John Michaels a couple of times. Memory of the night he--along with a few others--and I cruised in my Ramcharger down to a little neighborhood known by a friend "in need" at the moment still make me laugh. Probably because I was driving with an open bottle of Goose Island in my cup-holder!(Relax... It was root-beer!:))

Sometimes it's just the sound that grabs you... I know that story well.
