And here I am, trying to enlarge the already-big image of this boombox -- a digital-tuner model, right? -- and trying to click through the eleven other photos of its eBay listing. (Mutter)

Anyway, before spending a while looking up the Fisher PH-470 via Google, can I ask if this is a shortwave-tuning model -- perhaps with Sanyo components, since those two brands, Fisher and Sanyo, seem to have a decades-long partnership? That is, I remember reading as much, on Wikipedia.com and in S2G postings.

2:50AM ET Update: Yep, I found a YouTube video about this Fisher model. It was over nineteen minutes long, so I doubted the wisdom of sitting through all of it. (Very important family meeting imminent, you know.) But, yep, I ended up sitting through it all, the two sound dropouts included (around 12 minutes 50 seconds and about 16 minutes 10 seconds in).

Yes, the unit sounded competent, playing two KC And The Sunshine Band jams (one of them being "Get Down Tonight"); playing FM music (for instance, from WZBA, 100.7 MHz, "Boston's Classic Rock Station," according to a quick Google search); playing music with the LINE IN feature from a blue iPod Nano(?); seeing the audiocassette in the tape-deck well start turning when PLAY was engaged (but probably not playing any recording audibly, because the RADIO function was already in use or whatever), the man modelling the unit never speaking, et cetera.

No, there was no shortwave tuning, 'cause there is no SW band in that fair-sized model; AM, FM and FM-AFC seem to be the only BAND SELECTOR keys atop the unit. (And I'm not too happy with its odd-number-ending, 200 kHz FM tuning. No chance at acceptably tuning, say, 98.2 MHz.) But not a bad knob-top stereo to have for someone who isn't SW-hungry.

Hi easthelp, the radio is digital tuning and regular AM FM only.

This is an AKA of the Sanyo MR-P6. I had one, but the tuner screen was faded and the tuner buttons were frozen, so I got rid of it. Sounded good though.

Mister X , do you mean auto search on the cassette ?! Let’s say you are playing song #1 on your tape and want to listen to song #4 , just press button 4 and push down ffwd and will advance to song #4.
I love that feature by the way.
