very beautiful design. Are these cassette newly made by TDK or they are using old stock?

By looking at your first picture i was expecting a regular size deck to come out of that box.

    Now that is nice!

It's probably NOS, but finding a good source is probably difficult for them.
Unfortunately, TDK metal stock tend to have lubricant breakdown issues, but my MAXGs are still doing ok.

Liking the looks of that, you will have to let us know how good it sounds :boogie:

That box is as big as the one my new cartridge just came in, i think they want to make sure your tape and my cartridge arrive intact ha ha

My Oh My! I am such a sucker for hi-end packaging, will have to get one too! Always pain to find a shelf space for these, but it never stopped me from buying yet another Pink Floyd Special Editions with extra postcards, coasters, marbes and other stupidities thrown into a box! Cassette the size of a cassette deck, this is wild!

You're right guys. This packaging is massive. I've never seen anything -even close- to that. The attention put into detail is extreme. The inner box is made of several layers of black cardboard cut I guess with laser or something similar.
The outer box is as big as a deck!! :swoon
When the courier guy came with that box, I was thinking "what the hell is that? I've didn't buy anything as big..." And to my surprise it was the tape.

Yesterday I was playing it (only one side, no time for more) in my K909ES with a Sennheiser HD650 and the sound is excellent. As explained in the certificate, the recording has been made 100% analog from start to end. Even the original recording was made in analog (to my surprise). The levels are correct for that tape, going into +5 VU (which corresponds to +6 as this deck has the Dolby mark at -1.2VU). It's a very clean sound, punchy and natural.

Now it seems that there's no MA-XG anymore for sale (maybe I bought the latest or even the only one) but you can buy it in BASF 54 chrome (which one is that?).

I had a quick look at their catalogue, unfortunately nothing appeals to me musically.

You'll have to make an mp3 so you don't wear out the cassette.

A musically minded friend of mine living in Norway has the reel-to-reel version of Pannozzo's "Portrait of Jimi". He rates the sound quality extraordinary, and Pannozzo's Trio performance for the album exceptional. I'm expecting a reel to cassette duplicate arriving before end-of-year. That will be Teac 6010 reel deck playback, recorded to Nak 680ZX cassette deck. Yes, I provided a TDK MA-XG C-60 cassette blank, should be nice when I've got that in my hands. If there is readership interest, I'll report on audio quality & results after holidays.

Meanwhile, I recently purchased Pannozzo's original release of "Portrait of Jimi" on compact disc, and that is really quite enjoyable. Recommended if you dig hypersonic electric blues music with a distinct Jimi Hendrix flavor..... Look to youtube for Pannozzo performing Hendrix tunes in live venue, excellento !!!

    Cheers,

    Bleus de Nakker
