Hi everyone, I've just come across this forum thanks to video i was watching un Youtube and it looks great. i was looking from some videos to help me repair some old SONY walkmans that I have and the guy mentioned this place for help. I'm from the UK but live in Paris and being born in 76 I'm qui partial to vintage 80S and 90s stuff. I love all the star wars gear from Kenner/Palitoy, etc but also vintage Hi-Fi stuff. I've just recently started looking and my old toys/walkmans, etc..again as i had to put things on hold whilst my two sons got past the destroy everthing in the house phase. Anyway, to cut a story short, Hello everyone!
Indeed I have a couple Sony WM-F63 with seperate active speaker system (yellow speakers on a stand) Sony WM9 Sony WM-F22 Sony WM-24 I’m having trouble repairing the WM9 but i’ll create a post about that Thanks
I like the look of WM-F63, Have few and none of them work. This model is not a durable walkman . I stopped buying this model until figure out what causing the failure of this model. Most probably requires capacitor replacement. Does yours work?
The radio works fine. I had it hooked up to my Cambridge CX amp just a few hours ago. The tape doesn’t work at all though. It made a noise but no movement whatsoever until i opened it up, now no movement at all?? I’ve just ordered a new belt off ebay so i’ll see if that helps.
I have several WM-F63 with same exact issue. The problem wont resolve with belt change. This model is the most problematic Sony sport walkman.
I used a rubber belt from a multi-pack i had and it started up again. Sound and speed were off but it made a difference. I’ll see what happens when the proper band arrives...
