Hi everyone. I am recently considering to get one of the Toshiba RT-S98 and Sharp gf-777. Since they seem very similar, I wonder which one is better. Also, Sharp gf-9696, 9191 and 9000 are in my consideration list, too. Since they all have massive woofers that look so good and they are relatively cheaper than the two 6-speaker monsters.
They're not similar at all, the Toshiba has detachable speakers and the Sharp doesn't. The Toshiba sounds better IMO, but that's assuming its speakers have been re-foamed, which it's going to need if it hasn't been done already. Also, there's another version called the RT-S983 that looks better IMO because its passive radiators are white and say Toshiba.
Tough choice! Usually it's a matter of function--if not performance--that decides which is better, but I'm guessing the Toshiba wins here just because of what all those sliders do.
