I got the unit in top two pictures several weeks ago for about $300, however, the postal service broke the chrome bar in front of the speaker, which is my favorite part on this model. It also have some cosmetic issues, such as corrosion on buttons and the tuning part and marks on the new life now sticker. So I tried too look for same models selling for parts. And the one in pic No.3 is what I discovered on a shopping agent website for Yahoo Japan. Although I bought it for $33, which is cheap, shipping can probably cost me around $80 including Japan Domestic shipping fee to the agent and the international shipping fee to my apartment. I also got a Sanyo M9818k 3 piece boombox for about $50 and paid 20$ to repair it and was very disappointed after hearing about its poor output power. My parent was about to ship it to the dorm so I can play some cassette I got from band camp and rock the house with it.
The GF9000 as it's known here is a cool box and I'm sorry to hear about the shipping damage. Check EBay as there is a guy called icedmelon who often has parts for these. Good luck.
That's a downer, I've had similar shipping issues and want to pull my hair out. I remember the old days when UPS would handle everything like it was glass, now you better pack it for a 20' fall. The Sanyo looks like a mid-line box so there might not be a ton of volume but it should still be kind of loud, maybe some DeOxit on the switches will give you more volume. Boomboxes tend to have speakers that don't need new "surrounds" as much as traditional floor speakers but check around the speakers to see if the flexible part is still intact. If that becomes cracked or broken, sound will be horrible and that "surround" will need to be replaced.
