Hi, I am selling a WM-D3 I recently inherited. It plays, but needs a little work and I am confused as to what to ask for it. I see many listing for several hundred dollars... even broken ones. I was hoping to get advice on what to ask for it... It plays but not perfect... there is a little warble every once in a while. The counter does not work and it clicks. (not audible in music.) The case is in very good condition and everything seems to work. I recorded a little and it just picked up everything, including the clicks - audibly-. I only have the chassis. The case is clean. There might have been a little green on the battery terminals. Hoping I do not get in trouble for this, but it is on ebay currently under my name. I am not desperate to sell, but I could really use the extra $$$... Please contact me here, but it is OK to use the bay if you wish... the link is https://ebay.us/VN81q2 at some point I may be selling some Dynaco and Audionix equip... but that is a way off. if there is an interest here, maybe I will give a heads up when it is time. Any advice on the wm-d3 would be appreciated.
The click your hearing is the center gear which is most certainly split. As they age, the plastic shrinks and the gear splits. It will eventually become unplayable The d3's at this point will require a full restoration to be 100% functional. Your price doesnt seem to far out of the range of normal. Good luck with the sale!
Thanks.... reluctantly I let it go @150. Perhaps I should have try to restore it myself... Hopefully the person who bought it knows what they are doing. Apparently they could get up to three times that from a connoisseur. Win win.
The d3 has two plastic gears which can split. I think Marian Mihok has information on his website www.fixyouraudio.com
