    & Now My Bedroom System Is Complete!! :biggrin: :biggrin: :biggrin:

    Coupled with a massive twin drive Sony Subwoofer - The speakers are shown here close together but are way apart for maximum stereo effect!! The sound of these tiny systems really is astonishing! Upfront & confident stereo imaging with only the tiniest help from the sub, the sound is way too good for a bedroom :lollegs: :lollegs: :lollegs:

    Not quite as good as my main hi-fi system in the lounge, this is a very enjoyable listen with all the types of music I threw at it! The Monitor Audio Baby 10's provide a focused sharp soundstage while the bargain Sony sub from eBay enforces the bottom end that the tiny Baby 10's just can't reach!
    The video of course doesn't really do it any justice but shows the completed repaired Aiwa & it's ancillaries all together & they make beautiful music! I love this little Aiwa System 30, tape deck is a pig to repair but I got there in the end! Cassettes, Tuner & TV sound/Panasonic high end mp3 player DVR machine is the best mp3/Wave/Flac player I've heard to date.......I've heard some terrible media players & owned one or two but mp3 quality especially is so damn good!! :reelspin: :reelspin:

    What model number is that ? I have a Panasonic DMR-EX77 here but had never even thought of using it for music. I recall that it has some limitation of 999 music tracks despite a 160GB hard drive.

    Mine is the DMR-850 top of the range bluray hdd recorder, record to disc or hdd & no limit on song number at all! It just does everything must be seen to experience! I have 2 of these now, 1 in here & 1 in bedroom but at £550 they are not cheap!! As I said, the audio playback is amazing for all file formats! Buy one! 1tb hdd & extremely quiet operation too! Love these machines!

    That for replying Nick. The Panasonic I have wasn't cheap at the time but that was 11 years ago.
    Things have obviously moved on. Mine only gets used for DVDs since getting a Humax hard disc Freeview recorder and fitting a 2TB Hard Drive
    The price of your Panasonic is still less than something like a Sony HAP-S1 or a Cocktail Audio unit and they only do audio,

    Hello

    I found this thread after I bought my Aiwa Mini Compo.
    Here is a pictutre of my Mini Compo, bought this saturday by 100.00 eur. (Portugal)

    R22 - Tuner
    L22 - Cassete Deck
    C22 - Preamplifier
    P22 - Amplifier

    I did not tested yet the cassete deck, but probably is not working after 38 years...
    The tuner is not working properly, the output volume is too low and the tuner switch is jumping arround all the FM range, the AM is working nice.
    The Amp and Preamp are working nice, I wonder how this little things can deliver such a nice and powerfull sound.
    I connected them to my Rotel RCD 965BX, and the sound is amazing.

    I´m sure tha all the modules will have to be cleaned inside, but I ´ll have to take them to an expert.

    Great system axpegix! And you have the rack handles, they are a very nice touch. The price was nice since these are starting to get good money now a days, do you know where yours were made, either UK or Japan?

    Is there any 22 series made in UK?

    Mine all say 'Made In Japan' as far as I remember....

    I don't have the preamp on mine, something I would like though, and my amp appears to be different as well, mine has the following 3 components:

    Radio R22
    Tape Deck L22
    Amp A22

    If you read the article on page 5 they set up a plant in the UK in 1980 to make "micro stereos". Some of the units popping up have a made in UK sticker on the front panel.

    That's news! never known about that, never seen such "UK made" units either,
    or maybe just paid no attention. :)

    Some of the units popping up in the UK have a "Made in UK" sticker on the front, of course I had to look into that further and found that article. I was checking on the old vintage knob website and found they had a BASF Version and luckily one was on the bay for sale. As a side note, I really miss that website, I think the owner spent so much money on audio brochures and catalogs that he couldn't recover after some hard times, but these were the sites I loved reading in the early days of the internet.

    Thanks Chestnut, I never noticed they were different depths, now I have to pull them out of the cases to confirm. It's all good, they need a cleaning anyway.

    When they revised the outer cases to give a facelift to the system 22 in 1980 and gave the units a more modern look for the 30 series (whilst the internals for each unit remained pretty much identical to the 22 series), they also made all of the cabinets the same depth - see pic, although AIWA also produced two other components - the A25 integrated amplifier, and the R25 tuner, which are slightly less deep than the R30 tuner in my picture and the A30 integrated amp. One useful change AIWA did make on the 30 series, other than adding metal tape facility to the L30 cassette deck, was to upgrade the P30 power amp with a switching facility on the back so that it can be used as a stereo power amp, or as a mono power amp when used in tandem with a second P30,
