Got this on Saturday, it was absolutely filthy and only had very low volume on the right channel and the deck needed belts. Gave all the switches and record bar a good Deoxit and it burst back into life, amazing what a bit of switch cleaner can do. Re-belted the deck but it still not quite so I'll have another look at that, and gave it a good clean. It has some cosmetic issues dents and scratches on the trim and some paint wear, but still looks good and sounds very nice, actually quite pleased with it now, wanted one for ages.

looks awesome .I've always wondered about these .always loved the look of them, the Battle Scars just makes it that much more usable.

Yeah it does look pretty nice and I've always likes the look. Maybe the battle scars aren't such a bad thing, I have a few minty boxes and damage is always a worry.

Most of Toshibas look beautiful. But their quality are among the worst. Very disappointed with all Toshiba I had, included the top one S90. Sound great but just very low built quality.

Sadly I have to agree, I have a RT-9510S looks gorgeous sounds really nice, but the quality the pots and switches is poor along with the soldering and board connections causing a lot of problems, cheap pots with plastic shafts make all the controls feel loose not good.

Yeah it was from the Bay, congrats on also finding one. Very easy to re-belt only has one + the counter, not so easy getting the mechanism to work properly, lots of sliding plates and latches all stuck together with old dry grease, hope yours is better. I actually had to take the deck out of my 9510 which is the same and run them both from a 9v supply to figure out the problems with 892, which I only got running properly last night can't get the MTSS to work though.

I have this anonoymous bit that fell off the tape mech when i removed it but i didnt see where from and i cant find a home for it, if its related to the roller i cant see how it possibly attaches, help !

Very nice, the deck keys are much better than the ones on the RT-8890.
