I hope this is the correct place to post my introduction, I'm Donald, and I have been servicing antique radios for about 5 years now and just enjoy the hobby. I recently purchased on Ebay a 1980's style portable radio and I didn't notice that the battery door was missing so I'm here to search for a possible part.
Welcome Donald. Interesting to hear about the antique radios. Back in the 1980s when Boomboxes and Walkmans were the latest and greastest thing I had loads of Tube radios as you could pick them up at Jumble sales for less than a £. What has surprised me is that, thinking about it, many weren't as old then as 1980s boomboxes are now. A colleague at work has a theory that there is a "Nostalgia Wave" with people wanting to buy the things they remember from their childhood/teens.
Welcome to Stereo2go Donald What model is your radio? When it comes to boomboxes, I know that some boomboxes share the same battery door. One of the easiest part to print with a 3D printer is battery door that might be your last option.
Here are some boxes that are the same model, someone pointed out to me. ICS STR-5091 Audio Sonic TBS1100 and TBS1130 Techsonic MX-900 and MX-900E As posted in the wanted section, I'll gladly pay $100 for a good door !!! color doesn't matter as long as it works fine. I'd buy a 3D printed door if it was strong
Those are some of the most common boomboxes. You should be able to find a donor pretty easily. More models that use the same battery door: Silverstone CX-473L Nippon CX-473F Trident CX-473F Pantronic CX-473F Prosonic PQR-9850 Tisonic PR-7000 Palladium 879-584
thanks for the additional info ! you'd think someone has a battery door to sell for $100.... wouldn't you ?
